a brand new allure sells for $129.99 with one year contract. since he obviously cant sign you up on a contract, it would be $162 without contract. leather cases are $24.99. comes with a home charger, so that isnt an added value.
now, for people who have an ATT account and dont qualify for a new phone (there is a 2 phone per year max, and you dont qualify for one year contract pricing until after 6 months) this could be a screaming deal.
i have never heard of an echo problem, though the speaker phone mode sounds like crap, and is too quiet. if you are having an echo problem, turn the volume of the earpiece down, as it may be loud enough for the microphone to pick up, and send the caller's voice back to them (all wireless phones have delays times between transmission and retrieval, and any phone turned up too loud can have this "echo" problem). the battery is only useless when in analog mode, which uses more battery time due to the way it transmits (if you want to know how, PM me, as it would suck up all the bandwidth we have available here) and the size of the battery. in digital mode, which you are very unlikely to leave, it has more battery time than someone who is complaining about phone price has a rate plane for. basically, you would run out of rate plan minutes long before you ran out of battery time.
me, i think the allure is a great phone. i would say it is worth approx $100 or so.
oh, and i am a direct employee of ATT Wireless itself, FWIW.
