Dead Honda!

Wow, what a night. [tear] My Honda Is Dead [/tear].

New Dodge Durango with a drunk driver

vs

91 Acura Integra (lowered)

The Durango turned in front of me failing to yield to approaching traffic (me). [he was turning left, and I was going straight through the intersection] (about 2 hour and 35 minutes ago) I had right of way, and he should yield. Less than 10 seconds after impact, the drunk Durango driver hit reverse and backed off of the top of my hood. He burned out and continued his left turn, leaving my dead honda in the very center of a busy 4 land road and 2 lane country road.

At the time of impact, my honda turned off (croaked). Before the durango could back off of my hood, I was trying to find his plate # and start my car to get out of the intersection. The durango got off of my hood and did not stop, he continued to finish his left hand turn and took off fast. I did not get his plate number. I called the police right away, and an officer was on the scene within 5 minutes. Some very nice people stopped to help me move my car out from the intersection (It took 4 people to push my car 20 feet). I could not even open my driver door. My front left wheel is now pushed up under my fender (tuckin like its bagged).

Once the police arrived, it took them less than 10 minutes to locate the Durango (but not the driver). I did find his plate number. It was crunched into my hood with the rest of the durangos front bumper and fog lights.

Now it is time to figure out who was driving, & get some insurance information.

I am still stunned.

Best Wishes To Everyone Tonight,

Alex Costich

Sorry, my bad. All I saw was Miscellaneous. I was a little flustered. If someone wants to move the thread, go ahead.

yeah, get the insurance and such, but also get a lawyer. Take this mofo to court and sue him. You could have died for all he knew and he still took off.

It is a felony in Washington too. This guy will be going to jail. Has anyone here been in this type of situation? I am not looking for a grip of money from the person as long as my car is well paid for (what I have got in it to date). I was not hurt very bad, I am still quite sore where my seatbelt stopped me, but nothing was broken. I do not expect a huge sum for pain and suffering (even though I could probably milk him??)

Has someone here in the same situation gone to court?? I am just curious to hear the out come.

If you tell the insurance company that you are sore, after they settle the claim with your car, they will offer you a settlement for you injuries. The thing that sucks is that they will only give you what the book value of your integra is, regardless of what you have into it, so I would suggest you start stripping it now, I know because I have had 2 accidents in the past. Now, if you tell them you are hurting, they will offer you a settlement (prlly around $500) so you do not file suit against them in court later on and you release them from being liable(however should something major come up in the future you can still sue the hell outta them if needed). My last accident my car was totaled he offered me like $5900 for my SE-R, and I got him up to $6700. Now he just told me that he would like to offer me $500-$600 to settle with them on my injuries( I only had a little scratch on my arm from the airbag, thats all). PM me if you ahve any other questions, but there is someone on the board in the insurance biz and he could help more than I could prolly. Sorry to hear about your car, but good luck!
