one problem still though > i getting the tps voltage reading on the screen and i have it set for both cam 1&2 to come on and off at 3V but they not coming on ...
Same here -- no problems for me either. Could the problem that Ninety-Nine SE-L is having be related to the wiring of the orange and red wires? One is supposed to be switched and the other not -- but some folks, I believe, have wired them both the same way -- thinking that it doesn't matter. Just a random thought.
Bill
Heres what I noticed on the one site that many people to use to wire their MSS(http://www.sr20ve.co.uk/). On his site he has the orange wire and the red wire mixed up. The Orange is supposed to be constant while the red is accessory. Switching these two wires will cause the MSS to stay on after the car is turned off. As previously stated somewhere you do not need constant power for the MSS, it has an eprom and will remember the settings after it is turned off.
thanks guys...

If you set more than one parameter (for example, TPS AND RPM), all the specs have to be met (for example, 3 volts TPS AND 5000 RPM) before the cams will trigger. What other parameters have you set up, if any, and are their specs being met when you expect the cams to activitate?
Sorry guys, couldn`t find right MSS settings for sr16ve. Which revs do I have to set? sr20ve revs doesn`t suit. Now I`m setting 1-5800, 2-6000. Is it correct or I have to set other points? Thanks again!
hey i got a 96 200sx ser
im also doing a sr20ve
i wanted to know with the greddy mss did you the stock ecu or the ve ecu
and did you use your stock harness
thanks

The MSS is independent of the ECU and can be wired to switch your cams to either: 1) replace the switching capability of the VE ECU (which switches the cams at a high engine speed and is not reprogrammable), or 2) to switch your cams if you use a DE ecu.
You should use your original harness in either case. If you use the switching capability of the VE ECU, additional wiring will be needed to connect the ECU to the cam solenoids if you use the original harness.
hey man is there anyway
you can explain what wires i need to add
if i use a greddy mss, the ve ecu, and my stock harness
and also if you know of any other complications
i will encounter while im doing this swaap
i would appreciate it
thanks

Basically, you run constant (fused) 12V to each solenoid and the MSS feeds ground when the proper RPM is reached. The MSS instructions come in Japanese -- so it's a bit hard to figure them out. Ignore the speed wire and hook up the RPM wire to the ECU output to the tach.
Check this thread for how to program the MSS. Also in this thread are some instructions on which wire to tap from the ECU (at least for a B13 -- not sure about others).
i got this hooked up and i am having some problems... first when i hooked it up i forgot the feed from the soleniods needed positive not ground.. (had it hooked up to a bolt on the chassis
mss displayed rpm fine but when it went to the switch point it blew the cig lighter fuse.. where i was getting both power and ground to the unit.
Then i reread the instructions and connected the solenoids to power.
Now as soon as i turn the key on the cig lighter fuse blows...
I know the soleniods are workign cause when the car is started and the fuse is out it activates the high cam... with the mss disconnected it goes back to the low cam...
while the car is off if i pull one of te plugs to the soleniod i can hear it clicking.. is that right? I know something is wrong but i dunno

Hey guys i installed my neo vvl. had the Greddy mss put in . i can toggle between 1 and 2 off and on setting under rpm mode. But the dial scrolls only one digit numbers at a time. thus i have to assume ie: on(1) 4 is the first cam on at 4000 rpm. or ie: on (2) 6 is second cam on at 6000 rpm. i have a 93 nx2000 5spd. for this model which is the correct rpm wire to use. It seems the people that did mine spliced into one (maybe) at where the ecu is. was trying to pull out wiring to take a look. very tight back there and was getting dark.
aside from that when i start the car, it will run for a few seconds then stumble off. the stock ecu is being used. i know i have to get a calum ve rom or realtime program - it is burning rich for sure. other than that it should still idle constant - so what could be causing it to stumble off?
Any knowledge one can lend would be greatly appreciated.
does it really need to activate the intake solenoid and the exhaust solenoid separately? is there anyone try to activate both solenoid at the same time just curious if i can use the SAFC NEO to activate both the solenoid...
u can reset the mss I looked through my phone to see if I could find that text but cant just text your question to 542542 the kgb team will tell you it's about 1 or 2 bucks but it works
