I looked into this recently. Most people run the DE distributor, but there are at least two threads with VE distributor to B13 wiring. Do a search, it's out there.
I have no idea. I've always used an aftermarket ecu (either Calum or JWT) on my VE's.

If you have a Highport to VE install thread, I'd love to see in one place the following list:
a) What you need and likely don't have for the VE as a B13 owner
b) Typical mods you cannot use other than with the DE (e.g. IDK could not use the UR UD Crank Pulley) a.k.a. "stuff you have to buy again if you want things like Intake, header, FSTB, etc."
I can't be the only one who has tried to find out what else I already have that I cannot use with a VE swap, here's my short list for car #2 which has a dying USDM DE:
2nd or 3rd Gen Hotshot Header (add $150 min for a new header, pretty sure the hotshot is a poor port match for VE heads)
Highport 3" Intake (at least no w/o some fab work - unknown cost, if I can't make it work another $100+)
JWT ECU tuned for the S3 cams in the motor (add $300-400 and time for a Calum RT or get something else - this is really the one that kills me).
UR UD Crank Pulley (IDK about the water pump pulley) - there goes my UR pulley set
Replace OEM clutch before I have to (add $350 for B15/JWT clutch kit, honestly I'd do this maybe at the same time, maybe not with a DE, but with more power of the VE, not enough clutch)
My FSTB for my GC plates won't fit a lowport (unknown cost, who makes a GC Camber plate compatible FSTB that works with a lowport? $200?)
$1000 worth of parts easily. Add a motor at $800-900. Add the rest of the stuff VE-specific. It's not just the money, it's time, too, with time for another Calum ECU being a great unknown, the man has a day job
These are the kind of "details" all my pals leave out when they say "just go VE! Motors are only $800-900 now!" Try more like $2000 if the motor installed itself, not counting my time or someone else's time. Add a month or more of lead time, too, and that's the real killer when your car is just sitting.
2nd or 3rd Gen Hotshot Header (add $150 min for a new header, pretty sure the hotshot is a poor port match for VE heads) - Slot the holes.
Highport 3" Intake (at least no w/o some fab work - unknown cost, if I can't make it work another $100+) - Should be an easy mod.
JWT ECU tuned for the S3 cams in the motor (add $300-400 and time for a Calum RT or get something else - this is really the one that kills me). - Calum basic, or JWT reprogram. ~$100
UR UD Crank Pulley (IDK about the water pump pulley) - there goes my UR pulley set - Sell them and buy Vogel pulleys. Also, the VE wp pulley is already larger than a DE, and I'm not sure Vogel's is any larger. Or use the UR wp pulley.
Replace OEM clutch before I have to (add $350 for B15/JWT clutch kit, honestly I'd do this maybe at the same time, maybe not with a DE, but with more power of the VE, not enough clutch). - I think the oem will be ok.
