Are you using the VE throttle body? If so, you can adjust the cold idle.

Sup,
Yea it is the VE TB. Is the idle screw on the back of the manifold because there isnt one on the front anywhere and i know the AAC isn't for that. Peace

I believe you are talking about the idle screw on the AAC, he needs to adjust it on the throttle body.

You guys are wrong on this one. If you are using the VE TB the cold start idle is adjusted on the TB. The tubes that run under the TB run water into the device under the TB that self adjusts the TB with water temp. When cold the plunger pushes out to open the TB when hot the plunger goes in and that close the TB to reduce the idle.

It should not cold idle more than 2000 RPMs. It will not cause a problem but its should be lower and can easily be adjusted to do so.

I will idle proper when it warms up because the TB will shut completely when the temp reaches normal oprating temp no matter wher you set it to idke at when cold

I agree w/ Andreas. You should adjust the little plunger to the bottom left of the TB when looking at it. He posted this info about 2 years ago (that I remember). I bet a quick search would give about 5 threads regarding it.

The little "screw" has a nut to lock it in place and then you need a pretty small allen head to adjust it.

Please note to get the right TPS reading and cold start RPM you will be back and forth with the 2 because you are rying to get .44-.50 at warm idle. So set you cold start first then go and set the TPS once the motors is warm. What I am saying is the cold start affects the TPS reading because it moves the TB plate as you adjust it.
Here you go.

I used to have this issue of it idling at 2,000 or more rpms from a cold start. Soon as I got a JWT ECU it fixed this problem. Not saying this the fix-all, but it worked for me without having to adjust the TB.

Been wondering about this issue too... Idle is fine. Just cold start idle seems a tad high. In the 2k region. will asjust on the TB tonight. Also don't think it's good for the motor to idle that high when cold after reading HPRO's threads on 0W oil not even lubing the motor properly when cold....

my ve idles around 1200... warm up is about 1500, so thats not too high and sometimes when im on the road the ve sometimes idles at 1000-1400. I adjusted my acc valve and the screw cant go no further... its screwed all the way down... i believe it is a possible air pocket somewhere in my cooling lines...

^^^ we are in the same boat... i did the same exact thing you did... i was in timing mode or tried like ten times i still got the same idle... i even tried retarding my distributor down to 800 rpms but my timing was all messed up... and was back firing and bogging.... put it back to 15 on timing and went back to 1000 rpms... look like that is as low as i can get it

When I bought my car the cold idle would be at 2200 and even when warm it would linger for like 5 sec before it would settle when going to neutral... after setting the timing and TPS and I was finally able to play with the idle which used to stay at 1k. Now its at 800rpm all the time. From what I remember ***, the lil allen key made a huge difference to how high my cold idle is now...clockwise lowered it and I backed out the alley key on the throttle body a bit to help.
