VE tuneup parts.

I figured I'd throw this out because I found it interesting, and never heard of it.

Many who have swapped in a VE have used the distributor off the original car.

I purchased my VE car all swapped in.

Apparently Jim Schumacher had something to do with the swap.

Well, I needed the usual garbage for the VE - cap, rotor, plugs.

Turns out the plugs are the standard BR6KE's - I gap mine to .040".

The rotor is special. Has an allen key bolt that holds it on, unlike anything
I've seen on a USDM car. The cap, on the other hand, is absolutely IDENTICAL
to the distributor cap on my 2002 P11. Bolt holes, alignment dowel hole, layout,
internal and external visual. So while I will still have to order a special 'VE' JDM
rotor next time, the cap is the exact same on as on my P11.

When I have the parts in my hand next time, since they're about 15 miles
away right now, I'll try to take some pictures, and throw out part numbers.

Nifty, huh?

Peter

Dre had me use a DE distributor, but still need the plugs, which indeed are 6's, which, by the way, do NOT grow on trees, but they can be found. Remember all you need for an oil filter is the one off the 95-99 cars, but that's been covered well elsewhere here.

I had a similar situation. Got the car with the ve already in. Greg at Mossy was able to get me the cap and rotor, and I got the plugs locally. The wire set is a different story though. The DE wires will not work on the VE distr.(not long enough), so Greg is trying to get ahold of those as well. Mossy has awesome prices on this stuff by the way.

Lotsa people here swear by Greg, this guy is apparently a real gem.
I had somebody suggest to get 95-99 wires, but they're cut for a reversed distributor CANNOT get #1 wire to it's low position with early DE distributor. Now I get to pay restocking charge to my local supplier, GREAT people at Conyers (GA) Nissan, still with no website, but who are still willing to give me jobber cost (almost identical to Mossy prices)
If you have the VE distributor with the sockets pointing toward the radiator, you might want to try the 95-99 DE wires - but I do not know if they're really long enough. Good luck!

He is the man. He sent me the DE wires, when they didn't work I sent them back and he refunded my money, no problem. I would rather deal with him and wait a week to get my parts then go to the local Nissan parts counter douche's that usually don't even know what I am talking about when I need a part.

Sockets don't point towards the radiator on a ve dist. by the way. The dist. just must be bigger or stick out farther because the wires just won't reach.

Yo. Never saw the ve distributor; Andreas had already removed it prior to shipping.

It occurs to me that I DO have a set of VE plug wires off my VE - which only has 7500 miles on it - I'll put 'em in the for sale section. Unless, Milburn, your kid uses a VE distributor, in which case they're his for nada.

I havent really tried putting them on there, but I think the wires off my DE would fit my VE. Might be a difference in distributors for europe and the us, but on the outside my DE and VE distributors look the same.
I'll try to get some partnumbers.
The wires I used on the DE are NGK blue ones. I might be able to dig up a part-number for that too, if it is of interest.

Old question, I know, but I've spent some time searching for belt sizes and would have been nice just to have it in this thread.

VE Alternator and AC belt is the same as the DE belt.

VE Water Pump and Power Steering belt is 10mm longer then DE one. You can use the DE one though, but you will have to unscrew the belt tightening bolt until it almost comes out.

DE Belt on VE:

VE Belt on VE:

Part Numbers:
DE WP/PS: 4PK845
VE WP/PS: 4PK855

DE/VE AC/Alternator: 6PK1030

I have DE belts on my car and didn't have to loosen anything all the way for them to fit. Mine are Nissan belts.
