Local Powder & Ceramic Coating Shops

SR20Boston asked about local shops for these and anodizing. I have not found/used a local anodizer.

I have used the following with good results.

Manchester Machine Die, Co.

Manchester, NH 03102
tel - (603) 669-8622

Ceramic Coatings: (Headers)

Rust and Powder Coating

I will offer some experiance on powdercoating old rusty parts.

The parts are sandblasted before coating to remove all prior coatings, grease, paint, undercoat, rust, etc down to bare metal. I had a rear end housing from an '83 200SX done for my race car. It had heavy surface rust that pitted the metal. They sandblasted the unit as best they could. The finish product had little bubbles in the coating. This is gas emitted for the rust deposit pits during the baking process. These cannot be avoided on old heavily pitted parts.

The bubbles had no effect on durablity of the coating. I had the housing done seven years ago and the coating is still solidly attached and not flaking, its just not a show quality finish.

For the best appearing results, use a non or only minorly rusted part. If it has pitting you will not get the best appearing results.
