RI people, i need your help!

I need to know about purchasing a car in RI. Is it possible to use the plates on the car and a bill of sale to transport the car? Does RI issues temporary plates at their DMV's? TIA!

Alright thanks. Another thing, he told me Rhode Island doesn't have titles for car's 10 years or older. I have never heard of this before. He said I would be fine with just the bill of sale. Has anyone from CT preferably purchased a car in RI and brought it back with just the bill of sale and registered and insured it no problem?

nismo94tuner the above statement IS in fact true , i was suppose to purchase a black 200sx from RI and the owner lost the title and we had this whole big ordeal bout it but I PERSONALLY talk to the DMV there and they said CT , MASS and other states are aware of the 10 year or older law,.....kinda werid if u ask me but w/e.. its true ....ne way i didnt buy the car either way went with the greeen from MASS

Well, I'm live in NY. I just need to get the car to my brothers place which is like 84 miles away in CT, according to mapquest. I think I sourced a truck and trailor so now the only thing is finding a day to go up and get the new toy!

I got a car from fall river MA, and drove it back to NY 180 miles. All I had was the title and the bill of sale with old plates on it.

I purchase a SE-R http://www.nissanforums.com/classifi...uct=4145&cat=3, last Thursday, drove it back home in CT 95 miles and use the same plates as the car that falow me back home , I did call the insurance and told them to add the car ( vin number ) that I purchase befored I started the trip just to cover my a s a little bit. Is far is the no tilte deal is True , You will need a letter for RI DMV stating the NON title beacuse of 10 or older + you will need the last registration paper work from the last owner in order to register you car,I register the car Yesturday and did smog and pass LOL .
good luck with you purchase .

Well, I have a notarized bill of sale, proof of registration, and proof of insurance including all of the pervious owners info. Hopefully it all goes smooth. Its funny, I was looking at purchasing that SE-R. How is it overall? Manage to get that price down at all? Best of luck with the new ride bro!

Damn, rally car. Kind of upsetting to make it a rally car, it looked like a nice clean classic. Well, at least its going to someone who will do it up the right way.

Here is the car I picked up back when I originally made this thread.

Here it is currently...
