Bet no body has done this before

Looks like a great site to learn and trade ideas.

I am putting a VVL tied to a 5 speed manual into a 1965 mustang. Bet you have not seen this done before.

Couple of questions.
1) What spark plugs should I run in this motor?
2) Looks like this engine is running the cooling system backwards, feeds into the upper inlet on the head side and exits the water pump side at the bottom of the head. Is this a correct assumption?
3) What wt oil should I run?
4) What coolant (green or orange) should I run?

An advice or help you could give would be appreciated.

PS - this is not the first time I have done some thing different, I have a 48 Pontiac Streamliner with a 280Z motor in it.

Hey guys. I'm writing a paper for school and i'm really big into cars.. don't know much of the techinal jargan for a lot of it, but i love cars. i drive a stock 240sx right now, until i get through school. then i'll probably throw in the sr20 powerplant i hear such good things about. my main reason for joining this forum so early on in the game is to get the knowledge early and i wanted to know (for school) what are the power losses, to the wheels differeing from fwd and rwd. i know rwd has better handling capablities and all, but i'm more concerned about how i'm going to fair up against that kid in the civic when he hits his vtec crossover if you know what i'm saying. so on a naturally asparated sr20de (stock preferably) what are the whp read outs compared to the bhp? thanks for reading that, i know it's long. late.

Hey everyone, glad to find an SR20DE forum.

Having occasional trouble with my '93 SE-R, was hoping someone on the forum had run across this issue.

When it is cold - and it's getting colder fast here in NY - it occasionally has an electrical problem that causes it to run rough.

It seems to go into this mode where it idles rough and low and has very little power.

When I wind it up past 2500 RPM it seems to have enough juice to kick into the correct mode and drive well. This "happy" RPM threshold gets lower and lower as it warms up until it is fine from then on.

Frequently both the battery and the brake light come on and stay on and the wipers move slow when this happens - lights go back off when it kicks in.

It does not do it all the time, but it does it more with the temperature cold in the morning.

Anyone have any ideas? Diagnostic paths? Can anyone tell me how to measure the output of the alternator?

Thanks,
3rd

Apologies for newbie move - found the search button after I posted and searched for the two lights problem. Turns out someone had a bum alternator with similar symptoms.

Promise to be a more patient user in the future...
