Re: Nitrous Basics

Hey guys my name is Ray & own a 96 200sx se-r I was thinking about adding just a little bit of boost to my car for now by buying a NX "incognito" system [1.4 lb. bottle]. I'm wanting to know if I would I have to change my ecu or if I could run it like that I really have no clue how this would work.I don't have much on my car yet only 91 intake cam, I have advanced the timing to about 17 deg., a cone filter, obx header and a short throw shifter do you think I would be able to run a little bit of boost with out changing the ecu untill I can upgrade to a better system or I have to change it now.
Thanx for any help
Ray

Re: Nitrous Basics

Hehe turbo'd eclipses are slow man. You'll be fine with what you have now. All you'd need to do really is turn the timing back down to ~14.

Re: Nitrous Basics

No actually I was refferring to actual nitrous filters. If you don't use them you will kill the solenoids.

Re: Nitrous Basics

Well, maybe you should go ahead and add a little bit to this sticky (and enlighten me while you're at it).

Re: Nitrous Basics

Well you have to use nitrous filters cause stuff can get in the nitrous and the holes in the solenoids are pretty small therefore easy to clog. You can get a variety of different ones depending on your setup and application.
Check the link for more details.

this bit of info right here answered all my questions. i have a 100 direct port set up. and a jwt ecu tuned for a 100 shot. so what your saying is the jwt ecu will perform its n/a duties when the nitrious is unarmed. and when the nitrious is armed it will switch to nitrious tune and retard timing automatically ?

if some one could just reassure me that im understanding it correctly would be great. also what can i expect to run. nx with a de 100 shot direct port set up,300ZXTT fuel pump, 300ZXTT injectors, hs intake, hs gen 5 header full exhaust and pulleys, act hd/6 puck disc, light weight flywheel, short shifter and agxs and hypercoils or agx and gc coilovers 400/350.

thanks in advace,

stratton.

I basically have a simular setup and on the dyno you should see 220-235whp/wtq. Assuming a NX weighs 2750lbs with driver you should see 106-109mph trapspeeds. Now your driving skill will determine if you can run 12.7-12.9s or 13.0-13.5s.

sweet. thanks for the info. but could you answer me this. the jwt ecu runs a n/a tune (no lose in n/a power) when the nitrious is unarmed. when its armed it retards the timing to prevent detenation. am i understanding this correctly ?

i called and spoke to ben. the jwt ecu with 100 program will run a n/a tune when the nitrious is unarmed. when armed it will retard timing. its not progressive and at 3800rpms the 100 shot will hit. will stop 100 or 200 rpms before redline. shift and back to 100 shot. cool ; ).

So say I want to run a single fogger 100 shot wet kit(NX) in my se-l with basic bolt on's. All I need is a walbro 255 fuel pump, two step colder plugs(NGK BKR7E) and retard the timing 3 degree's. Is this true?! T.I.A.

you'll need a stronger clutch

bkr7e plugs just one step colder arent they?

I have a Clutchnet fiber-carbon clutch with type 1 pp and Clutchnet lightweight flywheel already.

btw which plugs should I use then, for some reason I thought the 7's were two step colder(my bad)?!

bkr6e is the standard plug. you might be able to use bkr7e, ask someone who runs a 100 shot. do they make the 8's in v-power?

I found this link and in it MARCUSMARC say's that the 7's would be o.k. for a 100 shot.
