I may try this instead of trying to paint the vinyl with that special coating. I have used it and it works OK, but with 10 years of armour all, it may not stick at all or absorb in.

I'm even wondering if that can be done with black suede or something? The only reason why I'd change to suede and NOT vinyl is because suede will actually reflect less. You'll end up with less glare on sunny days and the suede has a nice, matte finish to it, so it just needs to be wiped up with a lint roller to keep it fresh.
