Light Wieght hoods for NXs

hey peoples.

So, many of you may know, John horton here at west coast viper has bought an NX that we are building for the SE-R Series. We are very disapointed with the availablilty and the wieght of the after market hoods for the NX. so we have decided to make our own. we are in the middle of plans and manufacturing these hood. im not sure what we will make them out of yet either carbon fiber or fiberglass, and they will most likely have some kind of louver for better underhood heat management.

You may be wondering why i am letting you know about this. well it cause we would like to make more then just one and sell it to you guys. the estimated price is around $450 but like i said it is an estimated price. so please let me know if you are interested. there is no exact time frame yet. i will keep you guys updated.

Mac,
Horton Motorsports

Forget the hoods, the hatch is where the weight is at! Make light weight hatches!

like i said we arent sure what we are going to make it out of. we would like to make it out of carbon but cost of materials has not been finalized so im not sure yet. this will be a race hood so it will have almost no material, thats why me might go with fiberglass. it will keep cost down and be light. i will get some pictures up as soon as possible( when i get some). we are pushing fast cause i think we are trying to get the car ready for the enduro coming up.

well i have been talking to our molding guy all moring and like i said the carbon fiber will be more expensive. like in upwards of 600 with a louver or extracter of some sort. we are looking for the begining to middle of next month for the first ones to be made. we will probly start a group buy section a little bit before that.
ill get a rough design up soon so you can make your decisions.

heres some really good news.
A CF hatch is also being designed. you will most likely have to run lexan or something of that sort. and i will keep you posted on this also. so tell your buddies that have NX's to buy them.

I'd be very interested also. Don't care what it's made out of just so long as it is light.
