Speaker brackets are now painted gloss black and clear coated. I'm going to wait to reinstall them since I don't want to scratch the paint.

I ended up making this piece which gets welded to the floor and allows the bolt to sit flat.

Just like before I had to tack completely around it to prevent from burning through the floor. After tacking grind down and you now have a good base to leave a decent bead.

I made different brackets which get bolted down since it didn't need to be curved anymore. Here the brace is tied into the front sub frame bolts with one support bar so far.

I have 2 small support bars left to make and weld on each side in the spot shown below. The bar shown below isn't cut correctly but it will give you a idea of what I'm talking about.

After I make those two last pieces I can pull the entire thing out and finish welding it up and then prep and paint.

I would say its easier cuting out the floor and just laying a new sheet later.
I see now. Thanks. By the way the supports look awesome. Any plans for a cage further into the cab area?

I'm thinking next year I'll buy a roll cage (not sure if I want a full cage or just a back half yet) and modify it so it bolts to the subframe as well which means i'll ditch that brace i'm making. As of now that will more then likely be as far forward as it will reach unless I make a harness bar and tie all that together.

Picked up my fuel cell today as well as the last of the metal I should need to finish this thing. Bought 3/4 by 3/4 square tubing to make a cage around the fuel cell.

I have all m exhaust pieces to make the downpipe now. I just have to get the rest of the exhaust piping after I do the downpipe.

flanges, flex, y for exhaust cutout, 3" bends

Finished making my last bars and welding it up today. I need to clean it up so I can spray it yet but overall I’m happy with it. The rear is incredibly stiff with it.

I know that design is over kill and no one will want something like it unless they do the awd but I’ll redesign it and see what I can come up with to sell for those interested.

Sprayed it up with some rust oleum gloss black paint.

Ruffed up the plastic fuel pump holder as well as the bottom of the fuel cell before using JB weld. It worked really well and is held in place extremely good.

The bigger hose is of course the filler hose and the smaller one is the vent hose.

Sprayed inside the bracket with some primer and 3m rubber undercoating and then boxed it in.

Angled a piece from the bottom of the bracket to the frame rail and boxed it in.

All the rear brackets are now completely welded and good to go. Sprayed some 3m rubber undercoating on the brackets.

Don't worry about the strut hanging by the brake line. I have braided lines to replace them.

Here is my filler neck in place. You won't be able to get it positioned how it was originally but you can get it close.

A nice under shot of the filler hose, I still need to cut a hole to send the vent line in.

Look at that no more jacks holding it up.

I know originally I said you wouldn't be able to use a Gti-r fuel tank but now that the sub frame is mounted lower then thought to be earlier you probably could. The only issue is trying to locate one and getting it shipped to you which wouldn't be cheap. The NX & Gti-r fuel sending units are not interchangeable either (placing the Gti-r fuel sending unit in the NX tank). You also could modify your stock one for the drive shaft clearance but you will have to relocate your fuel pump which would be a lot of messing around in my opinion.

This is about were the fuel cell will be located. At that spot it will be roughly a 1/8 below the rear bumper. Remember to center it so there isn't more weight on one side then the other.

Started on the cage for the fuel cell.

I'm only doing a cage around the section that will be hanging below the car.

The cage will wrap around it completely once done and I will be making a access panel in the new floor to get to the tank. The only way to remove the fuel cell once finished will be from the inside through the access panel.

Had a buddy resurface my rear Gti-r rotors for me.

The fuel cell will be bolted down in 4 spots to the cage as well as surrounded by sheet metal to prevent rocks from hitting it.

Fuel cell is now mounted in the car.

It is welded to the frame rails right now but it will also be welded to the new floor once it is laid (new floor will sit on the flat horizontal pieces). I was planning on doing a diagonal piece at the 4 horizontal pieces welded to the frame rail as extra support but as of right now its already strong enough to hold me (about 205 lbs).

One issue I am going to run into is where I’m going to put my muffler. With the fuel cell being where it is there isn't a lot of room left over for a muffler. Now I could put the muffler before the sub frame and just run piping back to that spot for it to exit (Wisconsin law requires exhaust to exit after rear wheels). Another option is to find a decent muffler that’s small enough to fit in the gap (if you know of a small muffler let me know).

Check out summit racig there are some small race mufflers that may fit. Or just do what you said and put it before the subframe and just run the piping back to the factory exit spot.

What size exhaust do you plan on running? I would hope you would be putting down some serious numbers when this is all done like over 400whp, but what kind of power do you want to have?
