oops, didn't realized i got a bit off topic back there. as for the hatch, it's looking like i am still in as of right now. i'm hoping my car will hold together until it comes time to pay...but no guarantees as of late. after 2 years, things besides regular maintenance are starting to go wrong with my car again.

i got my fingers crossed that nothing major comes up before i can get this hatch. i really don't wanna miss out again, like i did with the invader hoods.

but yup, just keep the updates coming like you're been doing!

this came to mind as i was having my car detailed.

although my car sat for years under a uv protectent car cover the cf has faded. or is it the clear coat that has faded ?

is there anyway to return it to the dark black it usta be ? when i throw on a new cf hatch it will not look right....

im thinking if anything i can do a semi/light smoked clear coat on teh hood to match the darker rear hatch ?

any input on this guys...

stratton.

That or maybe a light wet sanding and buffing may bring it back to new looking.

I believe its the resin causes the discoloration.

the clearcoat is what fades and doesnt look as shiny. Carbon Fiber is Carbon Fiber. It cant possibly be anything else. Resin can turn slightly yellowish with alot of UV exposure but you only see that on the lighter or any white weaves in the CF. Otherwise you cant get any blacker than carbon... chemistry 101 LOL

pictures of what? a mold thats being made god knows where by god knows who?

be real man...jeez. Im not the type of person to make a bunch of bullsh*t hype along the way. When the final product is done there will be pics.

Youre the type of person that wants to see your chicken plucked and skineed before they grill it? LOL

Back to reality, just waiting to hear back from the guys on how the mold came out....

From what I understand there are 2 types of resin used to lay and help form carbon fiber. (Polyester and Epoxy)

Polyester - cheapest to use and not UV resistant which causes the yellow discoloration over time.

Epoxy - More expensive but is 100% UV resistant so no yellow discoloration.
