Here's the deal....
I'm in the works of having a Carbon Fiber Hatch made with a Lexan rear windshield. I don't have exact numbers yet, but the weight savings are going to be tremendous and the sex appeal second to none .
I plan on fully funding the project on my own and not taking any money upfront until the project is done. Then just selling the hoods outright and having them shipped out straight from the plant. For those who don't know I ran the successful VIS CF Hood Group Buy, so Im not your everyday flaker or dirtball LOL
Start voicing your comments, concerns, considerations and if you're definitely interested. I know who is serious and who isn't. 90% of you that say you want one will bail no matter how cheap it is, but I have enough confidence to know that I will be able to move all of the units. Its not like having money in the bank is a good thing nowadays anyway

F@cking a right
I think hatch is a great idea for the NX's; you'd shave a ton of weight off the chassis. Not sure how good that would be for racing but there would definitely be significant weight savings.
I can't buy one, heck my NX is being parted out. Good luck getting it made.
T-tops *might* be my next venture depeending how the hatch goes... Id need some donor ones though as I sold all of my spare ones, so if you see a mint set available for cheap let me know. The sh*tty part about doing t-tops is the weather stripping. Its very hard and or expensive to get those parts from Nissan, If someone made aftermarket weatherstripping that fit like stock, thatd be awesome.

Well I think Im gonna have to acccomodate both worlds, so maybe I can see about having some cool plugs made or something like that. What do you think?

Well thats what everybody says, and believe me, its a concern of mine too. VIS wanted about $1100 for such a product. Im not sure what these guys are gonna want, but realistically Id like to get it under $750 or so.

Yeah I know you guys out there are always interested, its just so hard to ship big parts liek this out there to you and deal with customs, but I will see what I can do. I remember with the VIS buy there was a few guys that wanted one, but I wasnt able to accomodate their needs and I thin kthey had to purchase them direct from VIS, but like I said, I will do my best to find out.
keep the questions/comments coming. If any one wants to post it up on the dash, go for it. I dont really go there much...
I'm sorry I didn't copy everyone else's setup. If you need a preacher to tell you what mods to put on your car, the Reverend Veilside180sx might have a suggestion.
I would be interested depending on my funds at the time. I think it would be lighter than the euro nissan nx roof spoiler.
Thanks again for the vis group buy. If only i didnt get into an accident with my invader hood.

maybe this is a stupid question but, is a lexan window going to be street legal.
Not stupid at all buddy, I think it varies state to state. most states probably wont care, some pickier states may say something. Somemay not even notice LOL
Honestly though, this modification is geared more towards race cars, track cars and project cars. On a daily driver it might not be such a great idea, since you will lose defrost capabilities, etc etc but still doable for the street. Just depends what you are willing to deal with for good looks. Personally i will keep my OEM hatch and have the CF one just like I did for my hood.

Im gonna see what kind of options the manufacturer gives me. Im guessing itd be best to make it a smooth mold and then somehow mark the location of the factory holes from the underside. CF is super easy to drill and work with as long as youre not a monkey... so if you wanted to mount your wiper motor and spoiler it wouldnt be hard at all. Worst case I will dril lout the holes myself for everybody that wants that option.

Dude, i remember that!!! I felt so bad. you were like one of the first guys to get it too. I think the NY guys got them and the WI guys goto the very next batch. Anyhow, I know youre good for it, so start putting some money aside.
Look at it this way, youd have to get rear ended pretty hard to ruin this thing LOL
sounds good man. I wasnt sure if you still even had your NX, but if you do I knoww youll buy one LOL.
As far as help theres not much you can do without living in SoCal, so no worries. Im hoping to drop off the donor this week and that will hopefully get the ball rolling
nice,. im interested depending on the cash..
i may give up my second pair of t tops.. ( i have a red and black pair) . so maybe i can send u them for discount on the rear when its done to get the next step of t tops done..
i had some1 who said he was gona do all CF sh*t for the NX (inferno somehitng was his name) but he flaked out..
summer is here and if its gona be minty on the car its gotta see the summer too.. lol.

The t-top thing probably wont happen. Just to be honest. The more I look into it, its just way too complex for the very few benefits it will give. Having to acquire all the lock and latch mechanisms and seals would be a PITA. Weight savings would be a few pounds which could be achieved by fiberglass and be cheaper. It would be purely cosmetic and I doubt people will want to pay for that. The only thing that makes this and the hood marketable is the racers that get involved and buy them up. If the part isnt functional or saves alot of weight, then I lose a big crowd.
Yeah alot of people talk big but never even get off the ground...I want to have this done ASAP. The company Im working with should be alot better than VIS as far as turn around time and catering to the little guy.

bumper support? Like the front bumper cover or the actual bumper? Making a bumper out of carbon fiber would just be stupid/wasteful and unsafe, period. A front bumper cover has been talked about but theres just not that much interest.
