Good thing you made it home before it totally failed.
I left the stock shifter on the turbo NX, just cut it down some so I could use my Momo knob. I don't miss the short shifter one bit, and I don't bang gears, so there's not much point in installing a shorty.

I've had one fail before. At an autocross, I was shifting between 1st and 2nd, and the shifter just broke. I was reaching around for it, and with a helmet on, I couldn't see that well. I pulled over, and the shifter was laying to the side, with only the boot holding it. I was able to hold it in place, and drive home. When I saw the shifter moving on the way home, I was worried the bottom nut was loose, or something in the transmission was damaged. I was actually happy to see that weld broken.

I did the same with my car. Cut about 1 inch off the oem rod, put a sparco on. You can adjust the sparco up and down a little if you like. I assume the Momo is the same with 3 set screws.
Thanks for taking the pictures of NYC for me. My wife and I enjoyed them..
I tried to use the flash on Saturday, and the pictures looked bad. Sunday, the sun was in a strange place inrelation to the cars, so I knew there would be shadows.
