Muffler Choice

For those who have gti-r motor what exhaust , custom setup , muffler etc . What are you running?
If you have pics of the stuff that would help to .

Reason why iam asking is here in smog "friendly" CA driving down the HWY with a 5 zigen full exhaust in a RHD rice rocket raises eyebrows to CHP.

So im looking for a setup to take the OEM similar exhaust path while being as quiet as can be.

I was looking into the Apexi WS2 but that may be on the longer side which may hit rear axle/control arms.

Another was Magnaflow.

Prefer the 3inch non stainless but sound and straight through are main concerns.

Non stainless, shiny i wanted something stealth , if its stainless i would prolly paint it.
I just dont want more of reason to get pulled overby chp and have my hood popped. Then get sent to a referee..Then i have to go through the trouble of getting it signed off

I'm running Kakimoto R 3" cat-back. Sounds just like stock, and has a 5" or 5 1/2" tip on it

kakimoto is what i am running as well. 3" turbo back. i usually have the quietest car on track days. has a great sound when you get on it but not too loud and very stealth. a lot of gtirs are running this exhaust. i have heard nothing but good things about it.

it came on the car. it was apparently a common upgrade in japan. a lot of Rs have them. i know you can still get them but i cant recall where. do a little searching and im sure you will find what your looking for. do you know a good place to host sound clips?

Hi there.
I received my Pulsar with the WS Apexi cat-back exhaust (WS1 or WS2, don't know) and it looks and sounds great. Sound level is next to nothing compared to other aftermarket cans. Even WOT, you will not get in trouble

You can get, off the Japanese market, a WS exhaust specifically for the R. Not sure about the inner size but an educated guess would be 2.5" diameter. All Stainless, very slick IMO.

How about having a side exit into the rear wheel arch and then fixing a small dummy 1" pipe to the back of the car ?

The most popular option in the UK is the Mongoose ( or slightly cheaper BlueFlame, same exhaust ). Very nice but very loud.. probably not what you want.

Well its a 3inch catback . I wouldnt mind selling it , it sounds nice but just not my cup of tea at my old age. Make me a resonable offer we'll see. I was thinking about to cutting the muffler off and put something to my taste .
