GTIR Speedo...

Hello all,

I'm planning a GTIR swap project and am trying to find out how to convert the speedo from KPH to MPH. I have heard of these converters but cannot find out where to buy them. Do they convert and get rid of the limiter? I know they are referred to as delimiters but I want to be sure that this will work. I'm planning on using a B15 LSD Transmission and want to be able to use the existing GTIR Gauge cluster or replace the cluster with something that will work for what I need. I simply need the speedo to read MPH effectively. Thank you for your help!

Heres what you do...

Keep your GTiR speedo that reads in KPH and re calibrate it to read in MPH. That way you will have your JDM gauge that reads in KPH but it will actually be calibrated to 180 MPH. There is an adjustment screw inside the cluster that you rotate to calibrate the speedo to the singnal coming from your speed sensor in your tranny. I have the same setup in my b13. B15 tranny and sensor with a GTiR cluster. The only thing that sucks is that you have to pull your cluster all the way apart, adjust the screw, re-assemble and install it, drive with a pace car to tell you how far off you are and repeat the whole thing again until you get it right on. I got it in 3 tries. It's very odd though. on your KPH speedo, 65 is around the 10:30 position and 100 is at 12 oclock. Diffrence between numbers eg. 20, 40, 60, is very small because it reads to 180 KPH where USDM unit only reads to 125 MPH, so it always seems like your going too slow. I don't have a pic of the adjustment screw, but once you get your cluster apart and look on the back of your speedo you will see it. Hope this helps.

Thank you Gettinzidewayz...

I appreciate you helping me out on this. Ive also heard of people using a sticker on top after they have calibrated these. Do you know if any stickers or MPH Gauges can be bought and sent here in the US? And just to clarify, since I will be using the B15 tranny, I will not need to worry about this Speed limitation, correct? By the way, I cannot seem to get a hold of a 5 spd LSD for the B15 yet so I will keep looking around. Thanx again!

I got a set of whiteline gauges when I did this on my B14. You can find them on ebay or ebay.uk.

And despite what everyone says about switching faces on your gauges, it is not hard to do if you are carful, safe, and take your time. And all of mine are spot on. Just index, take pictures, and try to use secondary sources when you do it.

You can get overlays, but you do not need them. Your cluster will say KMH but will really be reading MPH. Just leave it as it is. Looks cooler IMO

You will hit one major snag though, you will have to swap out the temp gauge out of your sentra cluster and put it into the GTiR cluster before you install. And since the sentra gauge faces are white and the GTiR faces are red, you will need to pull the needle and swap the faces over first. This is because the GTiR temp sensor uses a diffrent voltage range than the A-spec sentra does. The diiffrence is slight, but at idle the GTiR gauge will say you are overheating.

WARNING: There is no refrence point on the needle or the pin it is attached to that tells you what position the needle is supposed to be in. Therefor you must be very careful to somehow mark the orientation of the needle on the post when you remove it so you will know where to line up the new one when you re-install.

If you have a speed limiter its in your ecu. I have had my 92 classic to 140MPH and have never hit one. Good luck trying to find that tranny, they are very rare. Your best bet is to get a hold of Greg V at GSpec.com and get on the waiting list if he does not have one in stock.

Thanks!!!

Yeah the temp gauge is going to be methodically planned out from you have said. I'm driving a 2000 B15 Model with the 1.8 so I will need to verify everything up front with most of this build. Thanks again for your help!
