Somebody explain this please?

Why do I see this on all gtir motors


What is it for? It looks like some kinda of grounding, but what? If somebody could explain this it would be much appreciated!

Well, since I am using a b13 harness, not a gti-r I guess I don't have to worry about it.... I did get my resistors.

B13 harness has the same grounding cables, just screw into the intake manifold at a different point.

Yep, I'm running a b14 harness and have them too. I think every harness has them.

-96' B14 left stock for the daily drive... also expired

the cables are there on the b13 harness, i 've a seen b13 that wouldn't start without that harness grounded

So, your saying its part of the harness right? If so then I assume I have it, but I just don't remember it when I did my last swap

On a DE, they're on the back of the intake manifold between it and the firewall, close to the throttle body.

I actually bolted mine to the firewall when i had an o2 induction intake manifold, it seemed to work fine.

Firewall can induce alternator noise(remember, the sensors are running off 5V not 12V) so any variance in the signal, even on the earth line alters the signal the ECU is getting.
