My car above all cars so far.

The new under construction 300ZXTT.

The back of the car showing some of the cage detail.

The side view showing some of the wide body. Gonna run 275's on 10.5's in the front and 315's on 11.5's in the rear.

Cage is heavily intergrated into the unibody. Its going to get way more tied in.

Probably going to be the sickest 300ZXTT ever built. We are directly attacking the Z's weakest point, its whopping 3500 lb weight. Composite doors, hood, fenders and hatch, all lexan, deep 6ed the T-top roof, hundreds of lbs of luxury crap removed. Big heavy rear subframe and 4WS system gone. Tons of stuff gone from all over. Hope to get it down to 2900 lbs or less.

More shock and awe next week.

Mike, is this your old street car? The white 300 that was an ongoing project in SCC a few years back?

Mike, any rear views of the cage? Seems like a lot of steel back there, and it kinda runs together in the above pictures.

Way more tied in?? What is left Why not just build a tube frame and stick a Z32 body on that? Just kidding! I love these "little" projects you post up, gives me something to work towards in my own fabricating. Is this another Technosquare deal, or is that hush hush? It's gorgeous either way!

No its an old rotten 95 300zxtt that Nissan had lying around in a parking lot. They sold it to me for $1. I got a 350Z before I quit as well for a buck. That car is going to come together pending sponsership deals and some of my bandwidth freeing up.

Yes except I am using a NA read end without Hicas and with a R200 diff insterad of the tankish R230. The R200 can takes 900 whp and weighs like 30 lbs less. So the whole thing saves over 40 lbs.

Plus I am revising the rear geometry to remove most of the anti squat. This should solve the Z32's explosive oversteer and wheel hop problems.

The cool thing about the Z is that most of the rad parts are made for it and this car will need a lot less expensive and time consuming custom work like Sentra's do.

For time attack, tube frames are not allowed. Not allowed in ITE or Super unlimited either. LCON fabrication is doing the cage work. They are better than Technosquare if you can belive it. All Tig and crazy attention to detail. I thought Technosquare was a stickler. Louie at LCON is a perfectionist and he goes beyond the minimum.

For instance instead of using one 10 gauge dimple die plate, he will make several out of 16 gauge and put them in many places to spread the load more with the same weight penalty. His floor plates box, wrap around and mold to the entire chassis in the area. I got mad because it looked like he used 3/8" steel plate to make some mounting tabs, he said look again and he actualy made these beautiful 18 gauge fabrcated box tabs with tiny weld beads to you could have a big stiff looking tab that weighed nothing.

LCON isnt even that expensive, just a little more than Technosquare. I have never seen such work outside of a factory race team. This is the same sort of stuff you see on factory WRC, BTCC, DTM and WC cars. Its like the GM Cobalt Street Car, it exceeds my expectations. I whole heartedly recomend either shop but LCON is just nuts!

There will be a dimple die plate btween the shock towers and another one to seal the area btween the top of the main hoop and the roof when its done.

That is freaking awesome!! I love the welding! Guys who can run bead like that are real artists! I was kidding about the tubeframe thing, this will be exquisite when complete! I can't wait to see the finished product. Keep the updates flowing.
