Mosport is an amazing track (but expensive to rent). I would LOVE to see a cup race there, but with most of the participants coming from the US, I wonder if it would happen?
There's going to be a new track near Ottawa, kind of similar to Tremblant soon. It's in the mountains. Another cool venue?
Right now there's not really anyone in charge of the EC Cup. Tim Peele (tpeele) has volunteered to be the point person for info. This will be the place to get it organized, so questions should be asked here.
So, as a head count, who has a car ready/almost ready for racing?

That's amazing! Hopefully it will be availible for track days. It has always been a dream of mine to drive mosport.....maybe this would be just as good

my car is ready and has been racing NASA-VA for 3 years so count me on for first weekend next year
I have two Se-r's and a will of racing but no competitive license.

NASA has a racing school that takes a weekend and if you pass, you will have your licence, its called drving consepts.
Me, as long as the first race is Summit Point, Pocono, or the Glen, not VIR (Danville is quite a bit too far to tow from CT for a weekend...hell, SPR's on the edge...)
I'm interested, but nowhere near ready. My front clip should be here in 2-2.5 weeks. If the EC SE-R Cup were to begin next season, there's no way I'd be ready. It'll probably be late 2004 before I'm completely race-ready (cage, safety equipment, suspension, engine, and countless other knicknacks).
Jim, I just wanted to say I appreciate your correspondence via email. You have helped my teammates and I tremendoulsy. I PM'ed Tim and hope to hear from him soon.

My pleasure. Actually, I've also got inquiries from two others about DET 240s in SRX, so I hope this is a trend that will continue. I'd try and get out to the track as soon as possible- it is an invaluable tool for evaluating performance, guiding future mods and finding out what breaks

Mind waiting until we get established first? J/K really...I look forward to the competition.

Hopefully this won't be anything, but that is an extremely idealistic viewpoint. Along these lines, my teammates and I plan to keep a very detailed log on our website about the progress of the car, with respect to both construction and track time. We hope to include comments about suspension and engine tuning as a means of helping to guide others interested in SRX and SR20DET 240's as well. The only tricky part will be not to give away any competitive advantage by being so liberal with our findings!

Maybe, but we've been hotlapping and autox'ing our NX for almost a decade. The first two seasons of real racing have changed a lot of priorities and maintenance schedules, etc on the car. All new things broke or were inadequate under race conditions. I was just suggesting that people don't get "It has to be perfect" syndrome where they won't take their car out until it is perfect and they think it will be a dominating winner. I'm seen the syndrome at work and even had a touch of it myself from time to time. But in racing, consistent starts are the key to winning the championship.

Sounds like it will be an excellent resource. I've always found that the more info I share, the more info I get from others. I am always very open on what I've done to the car and my settings, how it is built and the reason behind it. I just draw the line at telling what I'm planning for on the car. I'm happy to divulge what suspension and settings I am running now, but I won't comment on what I am planning on getting in the future... if that makes any sense...
I certainly hope it is viewed as such! My teammates and I realized that even for street tuning, there isn't alot of very detailed information out there. Quite a few engine and parts retailers (heavythrottle.com being one of them) have detailed installation guides, but even these are a little lacking. We plan on doing a type of "Idiot's Guide" as it were, no offense intended obviously to those looking to follow our footsteps. On the other side of the coin, there is alot more information on the swap itself out there than there used to be, which is good. But like I said, we aim for ours to be the definitive guide for Joe Public looking to get a little more out of his 240 by swapping the engine.

This makes perfect sense actually. So much so in fact, I think we may adopt it as our own! Not telling anyone anything by both alienating our competition and being miserly about secrets to success would gain negative ground I think, and we plan to avoid this strategy. Plus, how would it speak to our confidence as drivers if we didn't share these things!
Your idea about not sharing future upgrades is another I think we'll adopt. Especially with the SRX division being so open in the way of modifications, we will need to be especially careful when talking about these things. Future weight reductions and power secrets would fall under this category I think.
This is shaping up to be alot of fun (and $$!) Thanks again.
