I am considering building a car for a couple years from now. I am wondering who else is considering this. Cost vs fun potential seems to be better in the se-r cup then the Honda stuff.
I am trying to get my car up and in this. I am hoping to be able to start competing this coming summer.

I'd really like to see it rolling, even if it is from 2500 miles away. I understand there are already 2 cars competing with NASA, so there is already a group of experienced racers you can draw on.

I'm getting the cage finished this weekend. Start building your cars now so we can have a good showing by the summer. I'm thinking the summer race at VIR is a good goal to shoot for.

Agreed. At a minimum, I should have my cage in by that time. Hopefully I will have some suspension issues worked out as well. The car will be race-able, but maybe not that competitive!
I am really, really close to running SE-R Cup next year. If I can get my car making some respectable power, I am in. I think my car's issues rest in the block, so I may pick up a used long block next week, so I'll know more after that!

Do you guys have a cheap supply of JDM SR20s back east? We Cup racers have a local deal with a place and get them pretty cheap. Whenever something goes wrong, it is almost always cheaper just to swap out the motor. Throw in the S cams and you're back in business. I believe Tom Paule has participated in something like 12 motorswaps (not all his car).
We've even borescoped a few to check for 10:1 motors. I've got one sitting on the floor in the garage just in case the 10:1 in the car goes out.

power...you don't need power, that car is as quick as mine at summit, you and i can race and watch Rosen run off in the distance

My car has mysteriously gotten slower. I ran a 1:33.X at Summit in August (first time on track in a year) then 1:35 a few weeks ago ... on new Hoosiers to boot! ITB cars were running my ass down on the main straight.
To compare, last weekend I turned 1:35s in my 209whp, 3,300-lb dinosaur F Body on 245 Falkens and Raybestos brake pads. I rode with MaddMatt, and his car with a full interior and my 200 pounds in the passenger seat defintely felt faster than my POS SE-R.
Lets pass on Noyan as a source for motors. They sell marginal product at best. Noyan wants $700-800 for a DE. They haven't a clue. JGY seems like a logical choice.
When are the almighty SE-R cup gods going to post approved dyno facilities for us to go to? Is it going to be 16:1 power to weight, with driver (I'm all for that)?

Hey,
I was at Summit as well. What car were you driving? I only remember MaddMatt being the only other SE-R there.

Well, that is for you guys to decide. It sounds like most of the people interested are mid-atlantic, with a few northerners and deep south folks. Do they have dynos at track you guys race at?
