bench ecu (not simple on off)

i know its pretty simple to set up a bench ecu to get the rom off, but has anyone been know to have managed to get a working ecu up and running, with "fake" sensors so to speak, maf, throttle, coolant etc?

i can remember seeing some japanese blokey had one set up, but that combined with an access monitor could be a very handy thing.

i'll be honest, i'm no wiring wiz, but surely it would be fairly do-able.

there was a post about this on ztecz but it has been down for a few days. Really all I got from that thread though was that the ecu will start throwing codes until it gets all the inputs it needs. ::shrug::

I haven't got all the sensors, but I've got a handful. This needs to be documented. Anyone want to do this?
