Consult Interface won't connect anymore (not cable!)

So I purchased a consult cable thru plms about a year ago. It never worked in my 92 Sentra SE-R, but worked good in my Z. I sold the sentra, got a 92 NX2000. The consult cable worked like a champ for about a month. Then one day, *poof* it doesn't want to connect anymore. The cable still works good in the Z.

My ecu in the NX is a u12 BlueBird.

Any idea why it would just stop working? Should I trace the wires that run from the consult plug to the ecu?

The old schematic plms had is flawed. so is their new one, and the NZ one. The new one (and the NZ one) have a cheesy fix, but it doesn't work very well on some ecus (namley B13/S13 ecus). I tried the exact same fix when I first ran into this problem, but discovered that its not that great of a fix. Symptoms are not working on some cars or crashing when trying to do something with lots of data transfer like dumping the rom. The old plastic boxes I sold had the same problem, the new metal boxes are fixed. This may not be your problem, but I'll bet dollars to doughnuts it is.

The fix I'm using now (and have been for the last yearish) seems to work with no problems on any cars. Its a much better fix.

I can repair or modify boxes, although depending on how the board is laid out it may be easier just to replace it. If you want me to take a look at it I'll send you my shipping address. If you want to try this yourself I'll post in detail exactly what the problem is, the not-so-good fix, and the better fix.

I sent you a PM.

I thought I got the "new/fixed" designs from PLMS. I recall there being some issues being brought to light on twinturbo.net, and PLMS declaring that they fixed it, which is what prompted me to buy it. Maybe this is the cheesy fix you're refering too.

My cable does crash my software when doing rom dumps, so I'm willing to bet you are correct in your assumtion.

Thats actually based on the original design, no cheese.

I hate surface mount stuff. If its got the usual problem I can fix it, but I'll have a be a little creative. Does that go in a box?
