Yeah, sorry I overlooked the excel sheet descriptions. The chips are already there in the list.
I'll get the case ordered after I make a working one. Thanks for the link for connector.

Those cases are pimpy, especially if you've got a DB9 punch or someone nice enough to cnc out the db9 spot. They're very rugged, more than strong enough to hold up in a garage.

Did you get the paypal I sent for the board? Just checking since you seem busy enough without all the ECU stuff.

Instead of XO - Crystal Clock Oscillators

no, normal crystal needs capacitors etc. get them from digikey or other, or wait for mouser

I made some improvement to your instructions.
I laid the capacitors and the voltage regulator flat so that they clear very well from the case and there is no need to cut the metal heat-sink from the voltage regulator. Which is good for hi-temp enviroments.

While laying down the Voltage regulator, put in some folded paper (two layer is good) between the voltage regulator and the chips before soldering the voltage regulator. This makes sure that voltage regulator won't be putting heat into the chips.

DB9:

Pin 1: Brown
Pin 2: Red
Pin 3: Orange
Pin 4: Yellow
Pin 5: Green

So on the consult it was like this:

Pin 1 = Consult 1 (Brown)
Pin 2 = Consult 2 (Red)
Pin 3 = Consult 7 (Orange)
Pin 4 = Consult 8 (Yellow)
Pin 5 = Consult 9 (Green)

Tie the bare ground wire to the yellow (pin 4) wire.

That is what I found, post up something if you found something else in your cable. I will be testing the mouser cables that I suggested to use above in this thread and post those results so if everyone just uses those than we can nail down a wiring color for all the needed pins so we cut down on confusion.
I have a DB-9 female to DB-25 Male cable cut. Pin out was

Serial 1 - Brown
Serial 2 - Red
Serial 3 - Orange
Serial 4 - Yellow
Serial 5 - Green
Ground - Ground loose wire.

My 91 model 240sx KA24DE has Pin out similar to Calum's. I'm guessing (actual try out will come tomorrow)

I tried to get the connection but ECUTalks can't read out.

Are there different pin outs from different Nissan Consult ports?
I have a KA24DE engine ECU from 91 240sx.

Anyone know if i can use a ftdi usb interface to replace the outgoing rs232 and its chip?? Calum posted that if you are using a newer different st232 chip, you would have to use different caps or something. I was just wondering if using a ftdi usb interface would require you to change any components on the board.

if ur replacing the rs232 with the ftdi chip then you get rid of the rs232 chip and its 4 caps, so there shouldnt be any need to change it

yes u can get rid of C3/C4/C5/C6.

though from memory u need a couple 0.1uf caps (one for 3v3out to gnd, other from vcc to gnd) for ftdi ft232r

Hey calum, do you think you can send me the schematic on the board itself. I want to see if I accidently bridged some traces on the board since i cant remember if there is suppose to be a trace that connects it.
