Minimum Requirements for Consult/Tuning

In regards to consult, calum said:

you need a P3 and 256mb of ram or better. ~$400 or better on ebay. My current laptop is a 2GHz Celeron with 256mb of ram and it does just fine. I got that brand new for $615 shipped over a year ago.

I don't know how amd and pentium compare, but would an AMD 1500+ be fast enough? I would think so. I'm looking at the following for $100 or so...
  • Athlon XP 1500+ 1.3ghz
  • 384mb Ram
  • 30gb hard drive
  • DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive, burns CDs at 24x
  • 1.44mb 3.5" Floppy Drive
  • S3 TwisterK graphics with 16mb ram
  • 15" 1024x768 LCD Display
  • Conexant 56k Modem
  • VIA 100mbit ethernet adapter
  • Conexant Sound with Headphone/speaker jack and microphone jack
  • 1 Parallel Port
  • 2 USB Ports
  • 1 IEEE1394 4-pin port
  • 2 PCMCIA Type 2 Slots

Anyways, thought it would be good to have a thread w/ info not buried in a thread.

You would be crazy not to jump on that for 100 bucks. It's about 10 times more than you need lol.

It sold before I could respond. Oh well. I now have a lead on a P3 1.0ghz that needs an LCD for $100. Can't decide on that one yet.
