Some of you guys are requesting volume orders that I just can't support, so I'm going to make the design for the B13/S13 Basic daughterboard open. Just like the consult boards, these can be used any way you wish royalty free including commercial purposes, you can alter anything you want, and you don't even need to refernce me in any way. Sell them on ebay and become a millionaire.
I will continue to support orders through the forum store and welcome new orders.
Ordering the PCBs is the same as the consult boards. I recommend www.barebonespcb.com (Advanced Circuits) for these as well. Construction of the board is pretty dang simple too. None of the pieces are marked on the board, but they're pretty easy to figure out (there's only 6 pieces). The square pin is pin one. These are laid out slightly differently than the older version pictured on the forum store page. The ZIF sockets are rotated 90 degrees to make using rom emulators easier. If you use a rom emulator do not use a ZIF socket, use a regular socket, the cable will not fit next to the ZIF handle.
Attached should be the artwork zip file and the excel partslist. The schematic can be found in the HOW TO: Install... thread in the Technical Information Library.
Btw, I'm finally going to clean out my mailbox here, I promise. You can also reach me by e-mail at calum@calumsult.com but I will be out of town and out of touch starting Friday through next week.
Enjoy!
Edit: The B13_BASIC_V1.zip contains the OrCard schematic and layout files.
Cadence 14.2 = OrCad 9. Cadence bought OrCad's pcb tools and rebadged it Cadence 14.2. But when you run the software it still says OrCad 9. Then Cadence unrebadged it for the new version, so its now back to OrCad 10.x. Hence there is an OrCad website and a Cadence website, and both contain support for the same product but neither mentions the other. Dumb. Here's the funny sh*t, Cadence sells another PCB layout tool based off an Allegro package they also bought. The funny world of high end design tools...
OrCad has a really good schematic capture program and a decent layout program. Its alot better than Eagle or any of the other cheap programs. I use the OrCad Unison Ultra package, which retails for the low price of $9995.
Do you happen to have the Gtools and schematic files for the updated version of this board with the ZIF sockets rotated 90 degrees?
I'm having some fun playing around with the schematic design tools in orcad, trying to see if I can modify the schematic you posted above to add some functionality. I want to see if I can add in a 2nd 28 pin header and run a cable out to my chip burner, thus eliminating the need to remove the chips each time I want to burn them. With my limited knowledge of digital electronics, the only way I know how to do this would be with a switch and either a bunch of gates or a simple bus system.
Anyhow, if you don't mind sharing them, can you either post em up or shoot em to my email address? crim@atl-sr20.com Thanks!
I don't think there's an easy way to do this without having at least one switch on the board. It would be better if you could do it with no switches. Both roms are burned with the same image, so you can write to both at the same time. The problem is since the A0 bit is fixed on both roms, they would fail the verify step in the write process. I guess thats not big deal...
Let me see what I can dig up. I've edited the original schematic capture files on accident, but I've got the original layout files. It would probably be easier just to start from scratch, these are so simple they don't take long to do. The hardest part is making sure the physical dimensions are right, but just use my board as a template for that.
Yea, except I don't use the trial version. :P
Will the trial version open the capture and layout files? Cool if it will, they're not that complex.
I just downloaded the viewer, you gotta jump through some loops to get just the viewer though. Stupid piece of crap program is asking me for a password.
Ah, the viewer is an addon to the purchased software, you have to download the huge demo program in order to see your designs... Okay, so either my computer is a POS or the download zip file is corrupted on their website, becuae it says its a corruped archive.
Umm I have a Calum ECU, but the radiator fan circuit is blown. Is there anybody (calum or others) than I can send this ecu to and have the board swapped over to another ECU. Once I get the ECU back I can send you my stock ECU which works fine.
