I got my USB to serial port adaptor working with the Calum board and Nissan Datascan. Installed the driver for the usb-serial first. Software said it was using com4. When i opened up Nissan Datascan, i set the communication to com4 and accepted the default address for it. I am not using z32 mode nor am i autoconnecting. Works like a champ, including datalogging and timing mode.

This is on a 96 B14 SER with 96 G20 ECU. So the answer is yes it works, yes the board works on B14's and yes the 96 G20 ecu is recognized by Datascan.
