This is what I've been cutting my teeth on, I thought you guys might get a kick out of it. So far it idles but doesn't drive. Its a split project between myself and a co-worker, and is being built with a seriously low budget. Its mostly spare change and extra parts. The turbo is a variable vane turbo, and spoold amazingly fast for its size. It needs valve seals really bad and tuning. Its going to end up being a Z32 with 550 injectors at 4-bar tune. There is no egr, butterfly valves, or any of the idle stuff (idle is fixed with a set screw). With the custom intake manifold the intake side is empty, you can change the starter, oil filter, and alternator with ease. Sorry the pics are so sh*tty, my camera sucks.
what did you get a variable vane turbo off of calum?
those pics are decent for some of the crap i see around here. Maybe you could step them up to 600x800 or hotlink fullsize shots

I love my cars, but I'll let you guys keep spending all your money on them. I'm getting a house
And now I know why you haven't called my cell lately.
I was all jacked up to begin making this program on the dyno up here, Calum. Are you saying that you've already begun the ROM tuning process? If so...how far away are you from having a complete KA24DE+T program for the Z32/550 injectors at 4-bar?
I can plop on my Z32 and 50lb MSDs in an afternoon, and be ready to go.
Check yer email, too.

Soory for the late reply. If you sent me a car related e-mail recently I'm working on catching up on those too.

Its off a 2003 F-350 powerstroke deisel. The official name for the turbo is a GT3782VA. If your looking to try the variable vane thing, just make sure to get a version that is "evrt". On those the vane solenoid is electronically controlled, so you can use an electronic boost controller to control the vanes. You only need the head unit of the boost controller and you need an additional circuit that can handle the high current load of the solenoid. I can supply a schematic for that if anybody needs it. I'm using a Blitz D-SBC, but any electronic boost controller brain should work with some work.
The turbo spools faaaaaaaaaaast. It may be big, but it spools like a small turbo. Its also very load, you can hear it spooling like a mac truck. Way cool.
If i search for gt3782va, I dont get a damn thing. If i take off the va I get this http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...2_452159_3.htm
but that doesnt mention a thing about variable vane, is that the same turbo?
Its the right designation, but its an OEM only turbo so you won't find much on it.
The non-VA version is readily available, and is the non-variable vane version. With the vanes I think it would work awesome with a SR20 too. Whats really neat is it uses no wastegate...

Sorry, missed your post.
6.0L, yea. They are amazingly cheap, keep an eye on e-bay. My office mate had two of these already. The other one he had was a bigger one, I forget what it came off of. Its on his supra now. Supra owners...
