If you are having idle/limp mode issues.

If you are having problems with your car idling and then going into limp mode, Post your .BIN file here with a short description.

Any update on this. My car is finally running, but it's not 100%. At idle it's on the rich side, and when it get's into boost it starts to lean out (not good). So I drove it around staying out of boost to see if the ecu would correct itself. I don't think it's running as lean as the wideband is reading, because it's sucking gas like crazy. Help!

This thread was for the people that have the car go into limp mode at random during idle.

Sounds like your tune is off bigtime

Mine was going into limp mode. I had to get another ecu and daughterboard setup from Calum to correct the problem. The one I have now has a 64 on the cover. Do you know of anyone running a Calum ecu in their GTI-R?

If I had a way to pull my .BIN off of my eproms, I would. I've been through so many iterations with Calum, its just silly.

If the car is going into limp mode after idling for a few minutes thats the base rom. If the car is leaning out in boost and rich at idle the K and Lag time are off.

I have not done a db ecu on a gtir det yet.

Bobby:

Your not the first gti-r but you are the first with that maf/inj combo

Sounds like what Nate said, my K and latency are out to lunch. Have you got a rom burner yet? There's a really good thread on how to set them up on a different forum, but I can't find it right now. Erm. In a nutshell:

-set your feedback to 00
-set your TTPmin to 0 and your TTPmax to 255
-set your entire fuel map to 1 (do not drive the car hard like this!)
-run the engine to ~3k and adjust the k value until the afr is around 14.7:1
-let the engine idle and adjust the latency until it idles around 14.7:1
-drive the car, staying off throttle and 4k rpm max, adjust k for 14.7:1
-replace tables and feedback with their original values (make sure to turn on feedback and include the feedback in the fuel maps)
-adjust tables so under boos performance is where you want it. For yours, this will mean adjusting the last two columns of the fuel map only.
-Post results to forum

With just a rom burner this is a long process (an emulator makes adjusting the k-value around quick), but you can do it in a weekend and you only have to do it once.

I think I've got that cracked, got a rom burner yet? If not shoot me an e-mail and I'll remember to send a set of roms your way the next time I ship stuff out.

No, I don't have a burner yet. Looking into getting one though. Thanks for all the info, Calum. Did you receive the other ecu back yet?
