Daughterboard tuning - Gains on a DE?

Hey guys, I'm holding back on the VE for now, but I'm still interested in the Calum daughterboard. Has anyone had success with squeezing a little more power out of the DE with some tuning strictly with the daughterboard? (By that I mean no other things like SAFC2 etc.)

Any ideas/predictions/etc would be helpful. I plan to run with pop-charger / 2.5" mandrel exhaust system and an undetermined set of headers.

I hate to post this, but search isn't working for me at the moment.

I thought Calum had a thread or post where he discusses one of his NA programs with just bolt-ons. I don't remember what the gains are, but I think it was similar to the Tomei program which required 91+ octane.

With a daughterboard, you don't need a AFC, etc. The db allows you to adjust your fuel in the maps, and most of the gains will be found in advancing the timing (just repeating what Calum told me). Just for a rough example, if you have your timing at 15* (at the pulley) then you advance it to 19* then you would see a gain. Well, you can see that same gain by adjusting the timing in the actual map (but you would set your mechanical timing back to 15*).

To see the most gains, you will need some time on the dyno to get as much as your can safely.

Yes, if I were to tune it, it would be done on a dyno. I am just trying to decide if the Calum ECU would give me gains over just advancing the mechanical timing.

There is always a gain, and now you change change other things like the rev limiter. You also get a ton of head room for your future plans if you decide to go ve, turbo, turbo ve, nitrous, blah blah whatever you want.

IIRC Calum found a gain of 10WHP in the mid range.

I just got a a car last night that has a DE in it so I can figure it all out soon

We ended up gaining about 9 peak hp up on a bone stock car on a dyno dynamics dyno, but the big gain was in the middle of the power band. On a full bolt-on car the peak gain was less, but still saw a large gain in the midband. Hunt around, I've posted a comparison of a stock timing curve versus what we ended up with. I think that plot is in my gallery too if you can't find the thread. You will be able to see gains over just mechanically advancing the timing, but on a full bolt on car with a stock head and cams, don't expect huge gobs of power, this is the fine tuning.

Mine's faster. AND its on an OBDII 95 G20 ECU. Its not a lot faster but it is noticeable. Also i lost a bit of city gas mileage. But hey more power=more gas gone. Plus i get to swap in a VVL head or strap on a turbo and i'll just have to flash a some maps.
