Find the interface box

OK, someone tell me how this is supposed to work. I can't imaging they shrunk the interface box to fit into the shell of the db9 connector.

Chris,
My Consult cable has a interface box to translates the signal. The interface box has lights determine power and connectivity. Then I purchased a "USB to rs-232" interface plug for a usb connection to my laptop.

I really like the cable above with the USB instead of RS-232 connection.

Thanks Scotty - I have one of the first Calum boxes, so I know the routine. I posted the link because I had never seen one with the interface built into the shell of the serial port connector itself. Actually once I saw the pic from Eric, I remember seeing it a while ago.

So is it built into the red balloon looking part of the wire? Pretty cool if it is..

I think I know what I'm putting on my Christmas list
