I would drive the car to get it up to normal operating temperature before swapping the chips. That way you can set the timing right after you put the ECU back in and start her up.
To be safe, I would disconnect the battery before removing the ECU and swapping chips. (I'm assuming that you will remove the ECU to swap chips.)
Then, make sure that your base timing is set at 15*. You may have advanced the timing for the stock ECU and it needs to be set back to 15* for the Calum program. In fact, you could et the timing to 15* before you swap the chips, then you will have it all done after getting the ECU back in.
Good luck -- make sure that the ECU connector goes in evenly and seats properly or the car won't start back up.
