Calumn RT Avenir bin on a stock DE-T, does it work fine?

Will the base Avenir bin calumn sent me when I ordered my realtime work just fine for my 92 B13 DE-T'ed. I just don't want to overlook anything and mess the good engine that ran when I took it out.

Are you saying:

I should use the timing curves from the file you sent to adjust the bin originally provided to have these specs? If so will I be able to drive the car to get gas, air in the tires, to the drive-thru, or around the block (without racing the engine) and still be kind of safe, until I get the hang of or do modify the original Avenir bin provided?

or

Can I load this file uploaded and the car should start and run fine, I just need to keep from pushing it until i have figured how to adjust as mentioned? I am a newbie when it comes to tuning, and will pick it up quickly. I just need something to start the car and run it lightly, to familiarize myself with the whole tuning aspect without blowing the motor right off the bat.

If you had something close base-wise, I could use it. Before long I will have the hang of this, I am just light on practice and its new to me.

-Roye

P.S. Thanks you so much for your advice.

Hi Roye,

No, compare your timing map with the above post, and change the timing under boost to match. Your still using your current bin, just changing the timing curve under boost. Its a good learning experience. To do that, do this-

-Open Tuner Pro
-Open your bin (I'm assuming you've got the B13 xdf already loaded)
-Goto compare, and set the first compare to the bin posted above.
-Now you need to make sure the RPM scales on the two bins are close, so open the RPM scale, note the values, then click compare and note the values. Btw, ctrl+1 will change to the first compare.
-They should be identical, or close enough that it doesn't matter. Close that.
-Open the main timing map. For all my programs your timing curve under boost is the last column, and the last three are transition curves. Setting the map up like this is called tuning for dummies btw, when tuning the car you only have to tune one column.
-Note those values. Now click compare and look to see the above bin's timing curve.
-Now you can manually write each value, or to do this quickly, highlight the last three columns, then do ctrl+C. Go back to your timing map (unclick compare), then click the top cell three columns from the left. Do ctrl+v. Now smooth the cells transitioning into the pasted columns if needed.
-Now click the far top left cell of the map, and do ctrl+a, then ctrl+c. Now open the secondary timing map, click the top far left cell, do ctrl+v. Hit save on both maps.

Your done! Go drive the car!

I think I might get it in a couple of days maybe weeks but the only thing I can view when I open my bin file is the 2D, 3D map and HEX values. I am not clear on the table view or how to find the RPM scales or even how to review the last few columns. I am going to search for more... but am a little confused. Any directions you can point me. I am just not familiar with reviewing/viewing, searching/sorting, with this application. I think my view is messing me up or something.

Did I do this correctly? I think I am getting the hang of it but need someone to validate my first file edit.

Yes! When you get it installed, trace the timing map and check which column your operation on. Under boost you should be on the far right side of the map.

Thanks a bunch! I still am taking baby steps here but everything is running now. I have been waiting to drive to make sure I am getting this right. My main concern was about the headers to those columns having different values.

Thank you so much for all your help and the wonderful efforts that have made such great advancements in educating us all. Too bad I will not be able to drive teh B13 till Monday, but I am picking up a NX2000 this weekend in FL. Wish me luck, it is a big drive back to Cincy. I always am frightful that I might get stuck on the side of the road, lets hope not.
