1991 240sx: new ecu does not plug in right

I bought a new ecu for my 240sx. it plugged in fine and seemed to drive well for several months. then i started getting dumb errors that did not make sense. finally figured out that some of the pins were not making good connections. i put my old computer in and everything was fine. It seems that i might have to bend the pins of the new computer to make it work. is this normal?

No, but the B13/S13 can go in crooked pretty easily. The trick is as you bolt them in squeeze both sides of the ecu/harness connector.

Also make sure the ecu doesn't have water damage. This isn't really something you usually see on an S13 ecu, but very common on B13 ecus. Just pop the top and bottom covers and look for obvious signs of damage.

thanks, i know what you mean about squeezing both sides of plug so it goes in even. my old one that works is water damaged and even has one connection that has corroded away but still works. Ill try the squeeze method with the newer computer., thanks again.
