Heres an audio question

My SE-L is acting weird lately as far as audio? Im not sure if its my pre-amp(IF we have one?) if its maybe just a bad/fried speaker, or if this is the start of a bad alternator? Heres whats goin on. You guys give me your $.02.

The last couple of days I would be driving down the road with my stereo crankin and then all of a sudden the music gets distorted more and more and more..... At first I thought this was bad reception on radio, but then it was doin it on CDs. Then after a while of distorted speakers, it would cut out all together and all you can hear is the audio coming from the sub??? Ill try this at night this weekend and crank up everything (all accessories) and Ill see if my headlamps go dim(CAN H.I.D.s) go dim? lol. Anyways, if I turn it down, then its not distorted? I have to really really turn in down though? Whats goin on guys? Any clue?

Do you have a new stereo or anything, amps for your front/rear speakers? I know I had this problem when I went to put my stock stereo back in and found out that it was the turn on wire, and then I had to disconnect that and feed my stereo into the ACC wire. But I had the same problems as far as sound goes.

Oh no no no... There is nothing new. Nothing new installed recently. I know what your talking about though. I know, because I also did that with my brothers 240 receintly lol. No this is something odd. Just receintly its fading away to a distort after crankin it up for a few seconds.. Its fine at first.. Then distorts, then cuts out. Then all thats blastin is the sub?

Stock radio might be going bad.. Atleast that's what it sounds like to me. If not that and sounds like a power issue. Is anything else acting up? Like dome light dim, or your dash lights when this happends?

Is it a stock stereo or an aftermarket one?

If its stock, those speakers are 6 years old, and the stock head unit distorts at a fairly low volume, so my guess would be is that they are on their way out. If they are aftermarket however, and you are running an amp, i would say that you probably have the gains cranked all teh way up, and when you turn the radio up, it distorts the hell out of the speakers and you've killed them.

What kind of audio do you have, because SE-L's didnt come with subwoofers
