Any Tranny Install experts in the ATL area?

Hi fellas. Well i've been battling with this damn tranny of mine for the past two days. Day one it fell of the jack and the result was a small crack in the case. I jb welded it and it pluged up the crack/leak. So i try to put it up again and I got further but it doesn't want to slide in towards the engine for some reason. I can mate up the raditor side bolts pretty good but the trans doesnt' want to slide in on the firwall side.

If there are any of you with a lot of tranny experience willing to help a rookie out please let me know. I'm located in buford. Gwinnet county. Just pm or post if you want to show me how damn easy this really is.

I'd really appreciate it. After two days of this crap i'm totally drained i don't know what to do anymore.

It is really hard to put a FWD tranny in with only a bottom support because there is no flat spot to balance it on. When I did mine, a put a 2x4 across the fenders and used a ratchet tie-down around the tranny and the wood for balance and support. It took two of us an hour or so, one on the jack and one on the strap to line it up. Of course a hoist would be the more professional way to do it. Maybe a transmission jack would work, too.

I also made two alignment studs by cutting off the heads of two long bolts (from the hardware store) and screwed them into the tapped holes in the block. The tranny has to go in completely straight. If you get one side in and not the other, something is binding and you have to pull it out and start over. Did you have an alignment tool for the clutch disc? Sometimes you need to rotate the flywheel a bit to get the splines to line up. This is usually when you get it close, but can not move it any more to finish it up.

It just takes some muscle and a bit of patience. Sometimes it can easily go and sometimes it wont go at all. Lower the car as much as possible and lift it up and play with it until you get it all the way in. I recommend help in this situation cause it's good to rotate in case you can't get it in the 1st few tries. Make sure you don't have xtra aligment bolts on your block/Tranny because sometimes when installing a new motor or tranny the aligment bolts hit each other causing the tranny not to line up or to crack. If you need more detail help don't be affraid to give me a call (678) 779-0192 my name is George and I live in Gwinnett.

Got it in. Thanks for the reply fellas. It was the damn input shaft. I turned the crank and it slid in. God that whole ordeal was ridiculous.
