Hey everyone, I know there are many people in Oklahoma interested in drifting. Unfortunately, Oklahoma is not a hot spot for drift activity. We don't get any D1 events here and it is unlikely that the local SCCA will support the Formula Drift series in Oklahoma. This leaves local drifters without many opportunities to legally drift. Oklahoma drifters lack even a forum for themselves.
Many local SCCA coordinators look down upon drifting. They assume it is just a "ricer sport" for ignorant kids. Local SCCA coordinators have little, if any, interest in allowing drifting at local autocrosses.
Well, we would like to change all of this. A friend and I have decided to test the waters for the creation of the Oklahoma Drifting Association. We have been discussing holding drifting events in Oklahoma for sometime now but have not seen much local interest in drifting until recently. Our goal is to create an organization that will allow drifters in Oklahoma to hold meets, events, and to expand the local scene thereby gaining acceptance which will result in larger mainstream events being held here. With its central location and large grassroots motorsports community Oklahoma is an ideal place to not only form an association but to hold large events.
This is not a specific club but rather an Association for all people and clubs. It is not manufacturer or model specific. All cars are welcome. All drifting skill levels are welcome.
We have just put up a forum this morning for the Oklahoma Drifting Association. In order to make all of this work we HAVE to have members join this forum and begin contributing. We cannot have people saying they are interested and but not doing anything. Nothing will happen without group cooperation and contribution.
This is not the first time we have created clubs. We also manage www.vracing.net
with over 80 international members, www.tulsaturbo.com
, The Old School Toyota Club http://www.needfulthings.net/ostc/forum/index.php
, and we have held numerous meets.
If you are interested in making the Oklahoma Drifting Association work please join the forum and start contributing:
