I'm going to be installing my VE as soon as I get some parts from Mossey...
I have no hoist... and I'm prepared to buy one but I was just wondering if there was anyone in the area that would like to come be part of the swap and that might have a hoist they want to bring with them?
Or if you just want to come and watch a engine swap because you want to learn, or if you want to criticise my method and tell me what I'm doing wrong, that'd be cool to.
Its a few weeks off at the closest, and a month away at the farthest.
anyone?

If you have a PepBoys near you, they have a great hoist with foldable legs for $130 ($110 after rebate). Also, if you don't have an engine stand, I'd highly recommend getting one. You'll be so much more comfortable, and will do a beter job when swapping parts off the DE and onto the VE with a stand. Harborfreight has a decent one for $50, also get the drip pan.

I've had engine stands before, and I almost prefer to work on the engine when it is in the air with the hoist. I was thinking of getting one from a local parts store for 100-150, pepboys or equivelant, I just spent 4k on parts though and I was wondering if I could make a friend and borrow their hoist for this one time When I lived in WA/OR we had a communal hoist, so to speak.... Probably just going to pony-up and buy one but, just trying to save a bit of cash 'cause the budget is tight right now.
The AZ SERCA crew has one - I'm not sure where it's at, though.... Contact either Kyle or Justin about borrowing it. Justin did a VE swap into his G20 about 2 years ago; he'd probably be an excellent resource for you! He actually lives somewhat close to where you said your house was going to be (and even works for Infiniti to boot!)....

A buttload of black smoke....
Anyone with a hoist? I can prep my car friday afternoon/evening and have it ready to hok a hoise up and yank the engine out. I have some parts coming in the mail next week, most *should* be here by the 7th, but if they are not, then I won't be ready. But if the parts do arrive, I will be ready to drop the sr20ve in!! SO EXCITED!!! I am going to wait to buy a hoist, hopefully someone can bring one with them? I am ready to buy one and there is a carquest right up the road so if worse comes to worst...
Who is available the 7th? We are having a house-warming party on the 14th so that weekend will not be available. I want to get it installed the 7th so I can make the dyno day the 14th... but dreams can't always come true.
early morning for sure. I want to make sure that I have the parts before I have people coming out to help me install parts that I don't have. I'll keep this post updated as to when i get the rest of the parts.

I have a hoist. I can deliver it or come and help. I've got pretty much every tool you could need.
If you have all the parts I can Remove and replace in under 5hrs by myself. do your neighbors mind impcat tools?
I'm nota virgin to engine swaps- lost count somewhere after 20 I have a pretty complete set of hand tools, I have no compressor, but if you want to bring one and let me use it that would be great!
New development, neighbors might not like the air tools but I think they could get over it because there is construction noise all the time still so they might not even know where it is coming from.
I'll take what help I can get. I'm pretty anal about what can and cannot slide on my car though so just be ready for that lol
I'll let you know when parts get in, like I said it all should be here by next weekend but there are a few parts that might be lagging!
Just an update... I am still waiting on some parts from Mossy, a part from Hotshot and some other parts from WA state, looks like it won't be going in this weekend
I'll post up the final word of go/no go on Friday afternoon.
Bit of common sense and I found a connection that I can get another engine from when I want so I am going to wait untill summer when it is too freaking hot to work on a car to get another one No worries, just, one thing at a time
