Help ... having clutch probs

Well I know it is on a Honduh, but the only mechanically inclined type I know in this town is James.

I think my clutch has had it. It is squeaking on disengagement ... under heavy acceleration is makes some clanking sound and the whole car shudders ... sometimes I can't get into V-TEC and the CEL comes on. I think it is all clutch related.

Anyway ... I need help or I can participate in the Ennis Test & Tune Feb 2nd.

I think bad clutches are contagious. PlanoSER, MikeSR20DE, Chris Garrison, Playatx99...am I missing anybody?

We have had a really bad time with clutches going bad lately. James is going to be able to do clutch jobs blindfolded with one arm tied behind his back now.

Oh, I should clarify. I mean that people have been having general transmission problems lately, or have been getting them fixed lately. I saw PlanoSER's and MikeSR20DE's tranny cases lying on the floor at TPM.

Well the best prices I can find if I can acquire a clutch myself are $300.00 + shipping for an Exedy Organic or $426.00 for an ACT street with organic disc.

Install looks like $250 + resurfaced flywheel at Garland Transmission or $300.00 at JoTech.

James if you can beat any of that I don't mind wrenching on an Acura I would love to hear from you!

Brian .... thanks for keeping this post open, I wouldn't be using this forum if I wasn't a little desperate.

Well I changed to oil last night and put in Matt's favorite Mobile One Synthetic 5w30 ... I don't seem to have any more V-TEC translation problems. I am not sure if the clutch is done with its nonsense, but I haven't heard any squeaking yet either.

When I take it to Ennis next weekend that will be the true test. Any of you SR20 folk want to race the "mighty" B18C1?

2 dollar part

well a 2 dollar part caused my trans. to take a dump on me. a c-clip puncured the input shaft seal and leaked gear oil all over my clutch. thus forcing me to put the JWT clutch in. (its the only reasonable thing to do).

GOOD LUCK ON ALL OTHER DRIVETRAINS!!!

Chris, I think I saw your car up at that Denton 1/8th mile track a while back. There were 3 SE-R's there that night, one of them was Matt's green one with the Rota wheels (** he sold them).

I talked to Matt last night, he said Parker would give me a good race, so Parker if you are out there lets try to line up together.
