hey homie.
sorry to hear your loss.
same thing happened to me on July 3 2002.
driving home and loss #2, just as you did.
unfortunately for me, i wasnt active on this forum, and ended up spending nearly $2,000 for a JDM engine. that included labor.

hows this for a deal for ya?

I really want a VE but toooooo much of a hassle passing emissions here in the desert! Plus I want to run 87 octane instead of the 92 octane $3.56 stuff

The VE was cleaner than the DE when emissioned... Justin Mc. had a VE in his G20 and passed the emissions with flying colors.

Now there are at least a couple of VE's in the valley...I just passed on my 2nd
attempt, had to add a restrictor plate after the cat . Retarded timing from 15 to 5 degrees, added an afpr. HCs & NOX were 2x over legal limit, CO near passing. 2nd attempt smoked the HC,NOX by over 60%, CO by 30%. If your install is clean, visual is no problem without EGR. You can have your cake and eat it too! Make sure your cat is working real good, keep it hot...
