exhaust system

Can anyone reccomend an exhaust system and muffler tip style that is quiet and has a low, none rice sounding tone? I would like to keep it as quiet as possible, though I don't mind it being loud. I am mainly looking for a deep tone and power. I am considering going with a GReddy cat-back, but I can't decide what tip to use. Any suggestions are welcome....

I have heard that the dual 2.5" rounded DTMs sound good...

thought u were going to get an SE-R instead, id wait off on mods and save the money for that. hell, for the price of an exhaust (500 bux) u can get an sr20de motor! its all about the performance/$$ ratio

but ifu have ur heart set on exhaust, i like the greddy Sp catback, nice low tone, not too loud, and nice looking muffler/tip. Some think the tip is kinda big though.

I had the topspeed( Courtesy) 2.5" mandrel stainless steel catback on my car, it was loud as sh*t but the gains were good.

ballistic, why don't you go JDM. they are pretty cheap.
Don, don't they make an HKS sport for the b14? i would choose the HKS above the Greddy. I have the Greddy and I think the tip is too big! Tommy had an HKS on his B13 and I thought it looked and sounded great.

I"m sure they make one for the B14. Them main thing about the GReddy exhaust is they have that certification for the Cali. Hwy. Patrol saying that the system meets the CHP standards. That way if some cop tries to hassle me, i Have paper to bring to the Judge...

I'm not too worried about how big the tip looks. All I care about it sound and power.

I have never been hassled for mine. But i live in Fort Worth also.
if you get the hks I will trade you for my greddy plus cash. depending on the price.
They never gave me the paper you are talking about.

From what I understand, you have to ask for the piece of paper. You might give them a call. I'm more worried about them pulling me over for speeding (I have a bit of a lead foot, though it's getting lighter ) and then deciding to hassle me about the tip as an add on...

Uhh...speeding away from cops...good plan.

Mike, the HKS for the B14 is different than the B13 HKS exhaust. The B14 people who have had the HKS say it's really loud and has a huge tip like the Greddy. They do NOT recommend the HKS B14 exhaust. Just an FYI.

Good plan! Texas will become a B14-free state!

I miss the HKS. It ruled!

I can't sell it just yet. It's not even out of the body shop. It was in a little bit of a fender bender. Someone tried to make a left turn through my driver's side door. Luckily no structural damage. Door just needed to be replaced, a little fender work, and the part where the door latches shut needs to be replaced. It'll all be done by the end of next week hopefully. I"ve already had to pass up a couple deals. It's not that I don't like the car, I love it, but I'd love an SR20 more.

I have actually considered doing the conversion. Thing is, it would be easier to buy the SE-R. If I did the swap I would have to replace the water pump, etc. There is a lot of extra work in doin the swap. If I can get some actual prices on how much it would cost to swap it out I would consider it. Last I heard, I could actually buy an SE-R for what it would cost to do the conversion.

exhaust

the nismo / borla as a unique tip and VERY quite... had one for years before the Courtesy Cat-Back

not cheap, not as big gains as the Courtesy (though you need a lot of mods to flow to get the most out of the 2.5" courtesy), but I did notice that there is one on display at courtesy that has been up there for a LONG time.... I bet they would deal on it!!!!

oh - it's 100% stainless - being a borla, it will never wear out!

this is what it looks like:
