well well , apparently my "new" compressor died on me. the guy that did the install tried to get it exchanged with another one from the junkyard but they were out....
anyways, ill probably just bend over and fork out for a rebuilt one
I'm in the same boat. I need a new compressor myself. Right now the plan is to replace it myself, but I really dont have much time to do it. Then again, I would rather not fork out money for labor. If I find someone reasonable and good, I'll let you know.

Texas Compressor Exchange. I took my Mazda pickup to them when the dealer wanted $800 to fix, they fixed it for about $30! (dealer wanted to put in a new compressor, they said it just needed servicing). They do complete AC work and did a good job on mine. Your mileage may vary (depending on how shot your system is). Look in the yellow pages under auto air conditioning. They're over on Goodnight Road by 35 back around Malibu race track.
