James/Boostfactor TC/PTS Hydrosystem install

James, I'm gonna be getting the Torque Converter from Protorque or Levelten in a few weeks and I need a place that can install it fast... What do you think would be the turn around time for boostfactor to do it? I need my car as it is my daily driver, but i don't mind renting something for a day... And how much would y'all charge? Can I do it on my own, maybe???

I also plan to do the hydrosystem upgrade in the future thru levelten... How fast can y'all undo the valve body and ship it out to levelten?

The TC is pretty soon, the hydrosystem can wait...

I gotta group deal through Level 10! Talk to Sam. It's $400 even for the converter and $100 for the core. Tell Sam that Dan Oliver sent you with the 1.6L sentra w/ auto & 3,200 rpm stall converter. Their really good quality stuff. Make sure you get a transmission cooler installed, a stacked plate one will be worth the money. If boostfactor cannot install it go to a reputable automatic transmission place or even a local shop. I'm around Grand Prairie & Arlington, TX. My personal shop is LoweTech Automotive off of Cooper behind the Kelly more's paint. Their awesome people, they treat their customers awesome. They charge $58 or $68 on labor, I'm not remembering too well.

I'd do the full transmission instead of just the valve body upgrade. You'll save money that way. The transmission is $2864 including the rebuild kit, super pump, valvebody upgrade, throttle oriented shift kit (on most nissans), and some other goodies. They guarantee it to hold 600hp/500tq on the FWD.

woah 2864 is way outta my budget.....

i appreciate the help... is the 1.6L one the same as mine ***? Mine's for the sr20de the 2000-01 one with the roller rockers....

100 for the core? you mean recalibration? I was thinking just doing the calibration and TC for 1200 plus labor and be done....
I just wanna match manuals and beat em a lil, but not run 10's or run 25psi of boost on it...

What are your HP/TQ goals? I was thinking you were going to go all out. Most people wanna do turbo's or NOS and the automatic clutches are usually the weak links.

I agree that $2864 is kinda pricey, but to tell you the truth, it isn't when you've been through as many trannies that I have been through. I would trust a reputable transmission shop or a reputable mechanic (shop) to install the valve body / torque converter/ tranny that has ASE certified techs and a written warranty statement. (I went through a $400 junk yard auto, $598 stall converter, $400 labor , and $2000 aamco transmission w/ labor)

With those two mods, you chould be extremely quick for an automatic SR20. You'd probably have better traction than other 2.0's on street tires and you'll probably get a pretty good 60ft time. The auto puts less shock on the car and the engine/tranny/wheels/ etc. Make sure you get a stacked plated tranny cooler. It's worth $60, trust me and all those auto tranny techs.
