?'s from a proud new 240 owner

Hey all, I was wondering if I can get any info from all you 240SX owners.

I've bought a '95 MT w/ 117,000 miles. Now a couple of things Im not positive on(when I went to look at the car, it was a little dark and Im buying it from a female cousin who nows nothing about cars)
1)what type of engine does it have (SR20DE or T?)
2) Is the S14 the chassis type?

Any info would be great. Also any specific problems I should look for (I will be driving it from Ohio to Dallas).

Thanks!!

it is the same engine they put in the trucks, it is not too bad, the engine will last you forever and is almost as bulletproof as the sr motors. I am pretty familiar with the car

Bullet proof... has some actually tried this theory (lol) This car has been garaged for the past year, and it ran like a champ when I took it for a spin around the block. Im hoping to make this my racing car.

toss that ka motor and do an SR swap...you'll enjoy turbo power...ehheeh...trust me...I didnt everything aside from going into the motor you can do on the KA and I got worked by a lot of cars....

James can attest to the Silvia power that was tea-bagging all those riceboys back from the import show in houston....

pretty easy if you have ppl around you that have done it before... bedford house racing is involved in many sr projects...ehehhe

just avoid going with the JWT ECU and the cap/rotor setup

And what, be like everyone else w/ the 240SX, why would you pull the KA24DE and put a SR20DE motor in it's place? The KA is a stronger engine, plus it's larger. You can also turbo the KA and produce more power than the SR will ever think of producing. Me personally, I'd rather turbo the KA. But then again, I don't like being like every other 240SX/Altima ower who has done the swap. That swap is WAY too common. I want to be different. Just giving my .02.

BTW, congrats on the new purchase.

Thanks Albert I had kinda planned on keeping the motor I got in it, till I blow it anyways. But this engine is very strong...and besides if I go turbo I can do it on an engine thats already there instead of doing the swap. Maybe if I get a "sponser" and all kinds of fancy rich people who wanna give me money then Ill do a swap.

My two thumbs up are in favor of the SR20DET swap...Just because of the abundance of SR20DET engines, parts and shops that know how to do the swap here in the DFW area. Plus the overall power you can make from the SR20DET motor, and the fun of having boost.

I do not disagree with you 01LTD, but I'll jump on that SR20DET bandwagon because (from past experiences) that bandwagon left my friends in KA24DE cars one or two car-lengths behind.

Littlerudegirl, congrats on the purchase! Post some pics of your car sometime.

I'd go with a sr swap too. It'll laydown over 400 whp on stock internals. I think a ka would have a hard time doin that for long.

As far as the KA24DE goes here's the world's fastest 240SX, I think he's from Houston as well. Here's the link World's Fastest 240SX

Enjoy. Again, I would stick w/ the KA and be different. For those of ya'll who know me ***, that's just usual.

Duy's car(the silver one) was sold to a guy in Florida I think and has sense blown up. Neather of those motors are hardly runnin on stock internals eather. Duy had a haltech standalone on his. Build a sr like this and see what ya get

Damn... those are both very phat cars! Although everyone has a good point... maybe when I decide to do the engine swap, maybe something very cool will come along, may it be a SR20DET or something else I can stick in this beast.

BTW what else can I swap in here if I had a choice???

Well any of the rb series motors (rb20,rb25 or rb26 skyline) or the vg30dett from the twinturbo z cars come to mind. A small block will fit too

You got to remember a turbo'd KA is a lot slower to rev than its SR20 counterpart. I've seen it first-hand. Not to mention the "struggling" it seems to go through to get up there.

To compare, a Neon's engine will rev to 7000-something rpms. But have you revved a Neon that high? It struggles, vibrates, and otherwise is not very symphonic in the process. SR20s and VTEC Hondas are the opposite of that.

Definately not the world's fastest! The JUN Silvia (Hyper Lemon) ran a 8.8 in the 1/4 over 2 years ago!

Congrats on the purchase lrg. You won't be disappointed. The cars handle great and look good as well.

I will be doing the RB25 swap into my S13 (not any time soon unfortunately). There are many write ups on various swaps and even building the KA motor.

I just completed the S13 front end conversion on mine. Check it out...

laterz...Jody
