Anyone have some classic SE-R seats to donate for an experiment?

I've been planning on a seat swap for the longest time. I want to take out the stock G20 seats and replace them with classic SE-R bucket seats(or NX seats) but I was told that they will take some modifications(as for how much I don't know). Anyone willing to help me with this project either by giving me some classic SE-R seats(any condition...except moldy or musty) or maybe someone with a classic(or NX) could take a Saturday morning/afternoon can help me?

Dont get nx seats they suck so bulky and ugly, classics seats are much better looking and fit more snug even better than 200sx seats.

Chriscar knows how to mod G seats to fit in the b13 chassis so he would be able to tell you what you need to do.

I modded a set of G20 seats so when I put them in my NX, so they would flip forward and allow access to the rear seats. All I had to do was remove the G20 seat cushion, and back cushion and install them on the NX seat pan and rails.

If you're looking to do the opposite, I'd say you can probably just install SE-R seats without modifying them. I'm not sure if the SE-R rails bolt onto a G20 frame, if not, it's just a few bolts and you can swap them over.

I bet you won't need any help at all to do it. What specifically have people told you needs to be done?

Thanks so much for the info, Chris. I've heard that the biggest issue will come from modifying the seat rails/frame themselves, otherwise it should be straightforward and simple. That said, I'll be scouring some salvage yards after Christmas to see what I can find. After taking a looooong 3,235 mile round trip in the G, the stock seats aren't all that great....

Hmm, maybe the rails can't be swapped. Take a look at the pictures and comments here http://sr20.net/gallery/album56

See how there's a bracket at each corner of the seat pan? (G20 seat on the left, NX on the right)That's where B13 rails bolt to the seat.

So, if the rails won't bolt onto the floor, then I'd say that you have to swap the SE-R seat cushion onto the G20 seat pan. If you do that, you're going to have to swap the seatback over as well and use the entire G20 frame and rails. It's still easy.

Pretty White did a writeup on B14 to NX conversion, it'll give you a good idea of how to swap the cushions. I'll add this, forget about reusing the hog ring clips, just use tie-wraps to reattach the fabric, it should be allot easier.

http://nissannx.info/pages/seat_install.html

FYI - Sentra SE's have the same seats as SE-R's. Get yourself a set from a 91-92, the fabric is much better than 93-94.

I'm not too worried about the fabric. I was going to have the seats redone in a tan leather/tan suede combo anyway. BTW, did the Sentra SE ever come in tan leathers? I could have sworn that I saw one like that(unless it was a custom job... )

That's why it took you 3 days to post it right?

Also, since I'll have to do a considerable amount of work to put the seats in, I plan on foregoing the classic SE-R seats and putting in some tan leather 90-96 300ZX seats......

Wish me luck.

Hey will the 300ZX seats fit? It looked like they would when I looked at them in my boys 300. They look like they have the same rail. Has anyone tried it?

One guy on Altimas.net put them in his 93-97. He said that it was pretty simple except for one of the seat brackets needing to be custom welded. I'm willing to bet that most of the Nissan/Infiniti seats can be interchanged with minimum fuss. Can't remember his screen name though.

As soon as I find a set, I'll try it in my G.

Cool. I'll try to get some 90-96 300ZX seats first; if I don't get those, I'll let you know.
