fans and shifter

ive been searching high and low, but all the info i find is peoples fans not working. mine just wont shut off, and my temp gauge just stays down at cold. what could cause the fans to stay on constantly? bad coolant temp. sensor?

also, the shifter in this car is really mushy. its not a stock shifter i know that, not sure on the brand though. what should i check for as far as the shifter being disgusting? i think tomorrow ill pull the B&M out of the other se-r and see if maybe just this shifter sucks.
