gasket ?

I am puting on my water pump and the FSM said to use a Liquid gasket, but I have a complete gasket dkit for the engine and it come with a gasket for the water pump and all other water gaskets.

Should I use the gasket that comes with the kit or liquid agasket for Auto Zone ( and if so what is the reecomended gasket sealer to use on our engines?

Thanks in advanced

Thanks perturian I will pick up a tube.

I have heard two diffrent things
one:
If a gasket is supplied use the gasket it is better
two:
Liquid gasket is what it should be used. (but why do the give you a water pump gasket ?)

I am wondering why liquid is better or a real gasket is better can anybody tell me Why?

from industrial experience, I always try to use gasket in a sheet instead of gasket in a tube. I just think that its more "physical" compared to something that comes out of a tube...

But I've used both and they both work...

Sometimes you'll find an aftermarket manufacturere that makes a paper/fiber/whatever gasket that does not correspond to anything OE. I don't know how well they work - in fact I know nothing about them. But grey goo is what came on there originally.

Nissan orange is my personal favorite.

You will be ok using liquid gasket on the sr20 water pump. Tighten down evenly.
