My car won't start

Okay this makes about no sense whatsoever. I installed my HS intake today and it required taking off the negative battery terminal. The car started up just fine with no problems before. As soon as we got it all installed...nothing. I get dash lights, but no crank or anything. WTF!? My roommate and I think it has something to do with the ground wire that connects to the negative batt terminal, frame and motor. We cleaned all the connections and still no luck. WTF!!! Someone please help me out here.

Well 10 min before installing the Hotshot intake...the car was started up a few times. Doesn't make sense.

Someone I spoke with told me I might've knocked a starter wire loose on the back of the IM. Are the starter wires behind the IM? I installed a new line for the intake that runs to the back of the IM.

auto or 5 sp?

jack the car up to where you can see the starter then make sure the single wire(smaller wire) is attached to the starter. it attches either by a grey pleg about 2 inches off the starter or a spade connector directly to the starter.

5 spd. Yeah we're going to have to wait until tomorrow when I have some light. Thanks for the reply. Hopefully it's something simple like a wire knocked loose.

try jacking the car up on the pass. side and see if it starts......if it does then try a new battery ground, i know it sounds funny, but thats what me and some friends had to do to figure out that one of our cars had that problem, ytry it hope it helps.

Not to be mean... but have you tried jumpstarting? Sometimes disconnecting battery can accidentally drain it, worth a shot if you havent tried. And if it works youll be glad you didnt go change a starter for nothing.

Yeah I already jumpstarted it. I have a battery charger with jump. Didn't help at all. Like I mentioned before, I get dash and headlights, just no crank.

I had this happen where everything else would come on but the car wouldn't start. I cleaned the battery terminals, especially the negative, but the car still wouldn't start sometimes. So I went under the car and cleaned everthing in terms of wiring that connected to the starter. That includes the bolts, washers, ring terminals, and especially the pieces coming off of the starter. Kinda a bitch to do but my car has started up everytime since then.

We got it figured out! The starter wire connection worked itself loose. Probably just pushing the motor around to get that intake manifold vaccum line on.

Thanks,
Todd
