Plugs make hardly any performance difference, you will not even notice it. MPG are more of what they affect. Bosch makes good products, but NGK is what Nissan put in the car to begin with. Also, this thread should have gone in the General section.

Plugs do have some effect. Crappy plugs give you crappy MPG, emmissions and idle. I had some craptacular autolites in my car and put in some NGKs. Idle sounded smoother and a bit less lumpier. Also MPG improved. Just stick to OEM, its OEM for a reason

for the sr20 this is a very wrong statement, the boschs are horrible for the sr20, don't believe me try the rapid fires, to deep of a spark if i remember correctly.
ALWAYS USE NGKS. I can remember multiple threads about this as well.

Word.... some plugs, although they've got the same numbers, are different depths. A friend of mine had a Ford Taurus, and switched from Autolites (their OEM type) to Bosch RapidFires... plugs slammed the top of 5 of the 6 pistons.

Don't take the risk. I also hear that the Bosches have a hard time keeping a gap, but.....

Not on the forum much lately since neck injury - we'll be back at it soon, babying the n00bies.

I put Bosch platinum +4's in my XE and it ran great for years. However when it came time to put plugs in my SE-R I didn't challenge conventional wisdom and put in NGK's.

only put factory plugs in your car, there is a difference between the non factory and the factory NGK plugs, I will try to find the link, but the electrode was a bit smaller (this was on an older copper datsun plug)

Bosch are crapy plugs:seen to many customers compaini.e. parts salesman). i always try selling ngk, denso, or autolite, those are the best plugs for most foregin cars. ac-delco is good for GM, motorcraft is for Ford, and while champions are good for Mopar.

NGK in the SR20, hands down! I've tried Bosch on my NX2000, and let's just say they didn't even get 500 miles on them before I swapped them out for some NGK's. I am currently running BKR6E-11, pre-gapped at .044" IIRC.

Here's a post I started a little while back. It contains ALL the information you'll ever need about spark plugs and gap in the SR20:

Used to have NGKs on my old SE-R, and I had them on my Miata too. Good plugs and it's what the dealer and what most sr20 owners suggest.

BTW, that was a really good thread, cOOLkatz.
